Postal service in baton rouge...why is it so HORRIBLE

Have you ever seen an Asian mail carrier?

Like most government jobs, once you have it, it's almost impossible to be fired. Therefore it attracts people who don't exactly take a great deal of pride in their work.

Look at who works for the USPS. They are government workers. They don't give a damn about pride in one's work. They are there to collect a paycheck, and that's about as far as it goes. USPS should be dismantled, and privatize the industry.

I have AR parts that have been sitting in Chicago for 6 days now.

1. Since the pandemic began, the postal service has unprecedented volume as people have depended on online purchasing.

2. Due to stringent Covid contact tracing rules across the country, many major postal hubs have been short-staffed for months, particularly around the Christmas season.

3. These are civil servants who have no fear whatsoever of losing their jobs.

4. The USPS is literally protected by the constitution, and the people who run it know it.

5. The horse they backed won the race in November...a race that was absolutely determined by the USPS’ involvement.

I get my mail almost daily

and usually my nice neighbors bring me half of my mail since the postman can't read numbers (I return the favor, of course)

I'm friends with the postal worker who delivers the mail to our apt.complex. She says that the union runs each station, that the general mgr has almost zero power to enforce rules and regulations, the union is so strong. As examples of wasted taxpayer dollars, she said that all the P.O.in major cities across the country spent $100,000 to install security cameras ...in the employees' parking lot, theft was so rampant. once a mth, a supervisor follows each mail deliverer on the route, stop watch in hand, to clock how much time it takes to get mail from the truck to the mail box. That supervisor is paid way up on the pay scale for this duty. Here in B.R, "easy half of the City's postal workers are in the final 4-5 years of their employment & are union protected. Most just sit around in the back office & mgt. is powerless to make them work".
