They panicked when Trump was elected because it threatened to expose their skeletons. So if they blow every single tiny detail out of proportion then when they have something substance lobbied against them hopefully no one cares anymore or it doesn't look credible.

Because it's grasping at straws to try and make Jr not look like an idiot. You could tell me Barack Obama himself hired the guy who set up the meeting and the lady, and Jr would still be a fricking idiot.
