The videos of this explosion are very intense. It appears there were a series of small fires prior to the massive explosion which made me think a gas line or something exploded ? If not, this was a major size bomb.

The Lebanese authorities claim there was a bunch of sodium nitrate (?) being warehoused in the area and it went up after the fires raged long enough.

7th pic, 2 guys holding a woman who has gone limp, was her face blown off? Not to be overly macabre at a horrible situation, but her face looks like ground meat and I didn’t notice any ears on her profile.

Apparently, from a ship carrying 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate to Mozambique that was seized in port back in 2013. Pending the sale of the ship, the AN was placed in dock warehouse. Guess the warehouse also housed fireworks?

The best theory so far as to the cause of the explosions comes from Farouk. He says that the Rhosus, a ship flying the Moldovan flag was carrying 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate to Mozambique, in 2013. It experienced technical difficulties and docked at Beirut.
