I think we’re certainly seeing the underbelly of it right now. I hope we get through these growing pains and can all become more discerning consumers of information.

You presume that MSM and social media constitutes either communication or information. Neither is a safe assumption. I’d assert you have a lot more words to digest and process as an individual but no more actual information than existed before the internet. If anything there’s less because it’s so easy to spread disinformation.

On the communication front, there is no more one on one dialogue. Social media is the equivalent to trying to have a civil conversation at a bar with 100 drunk idiots. You have to yell to be heard and at some point one of the drunk idiots will hijack the conversation. And you can’t simply exist the establishment to talk privately because the establishment goes wherever you go.
