CDC has been stating for several months now that the vaccines only last 3 months.

The annual flu shot is a vaccine. The reason why other vaccines are lifetime is because those viruses are very stable and don't mutate really at all. Some viruses are prone to mutating, which is why we vaccinate more often for others.
