I am a capitalist but I don't like institutional capital hovering up the housing stock. I just don't think its good for society.

Has she apologized to Trump yet for participating in the Hunter Biden cover up?

Of course not. But it’s important to see how they try to shift the narrative. Not one peep about inflation either. It’s all hilarious.

She is an enemy of the people for sure. Elegant nose, though.

This housing crisis is just another example of our govt representation busy making their own $ millions. They should have had hearing already on institutional investors buying SFR homes.

The Real Estate an Banking industry is the most regulated industries so how is it possible this has been allowed to get to this point? There are already laws preventing banks from owning properties and being a Real Estate Broker ... it a hard line drawn that prevents banks from doing anything other than providing financing for real estate assets. There is a very good reason for this and the reason is to prevent exactly what is occuring now with institutional investors. Its predatory!!

What congress should do is pass legislation that prevents publicly traded funds from owning SFR. I have no problem with them owning Multi family and commercial but SFR should be off limits. They should also cap private investors to 100 SFR properties in a specified area.

They’re not hovering up the housing stock in most areas.

The places they are I wouldn’t want to live anyway for the most part

The problem is…. too many northerners and Kalifornians are moving down south …and causing a HUGE demand for housing …and bringing their nutjob politics with them.
Here’s a suggestion…. Move back up north where housing is more affordable.

I don’t think you’ll get near as many downvotes as upvotes. I’m a capitalist, but know that capitalism at all costs and chrony capitalism are what people mean when they think of capitalism.

Buying up all the product so that everybody is forced to you for rentals is chrony capitalism at best.

It’s mostly locals screwing everything up. Every time higher density housing, or new development is slated near anyones property they raise holy hell and prevent it from being built.

I had some additional thought on this. Is the current housing crisis the results of the Democrats Global market and open borders world?

We have laws in the US regarding foreign ownership of real estate. Not that laws mean anything anymore these days, but the fund that 60 minutes reported on is a Canadian fund buying US Real Estate. How many foreign funds and/or foreign investors in US funds are involved in the mass purchase of SFR? This should be a huge story to investigate because if American citizens are being forced to compete against global investors who have a favorable advantage due to the devaluation of the $$ then what we could be seeing in Real Estate today is an economic war we are not being told about.

The political elections do hit home ... literally!!

If I were a millenial I would be extremely pissed because for the last 20+ years the politicians have sold them and their futures for the politicians personal wealth and profits. They brainwashed them through the schools to believe in a utopian fairy tale society, they created an economy that channels millennials to hourly wage jobs and govt assistance for living wages, and now they are selling their opportunity to buy into th "American Dream" out from under their feet.

What happens when investment funds monopolize the rental housing market. These millinials can't afford to buy a house, can't afford to rent a house, and will be working for the funds that own their employment. Does any of this sound similar to a forced labor economy????

I predict that very soon we will start seeing housing offered for employment and it will be reported as some progressive greatness of helping people.
