Human nature. People only rise up against oppression when it affects them. Rarely anyone would risk their families to stand up for others, whenever they see injustice.
That legal team.. can be threatened, they can be beat, their families can be destroyed and the government would ignore it. Because as long as you threaten, beat and destroy people on behalf of the establishment.. it's not considered against the law.
They've to also worry about the government itself getting involved and targeting them.
It sucks to see, but human nature is human nature.

They failed miserably in a shite ton of court cases to prove something that was apparently obvious, according to many.
