Papa John's founder says resigning over N-word use was a mistake

In an interview on Friday with a local Kentucky TV station, Schnatter said that Laundry Service had “kind of provoked” him a little bit to use that word in a confidential PR strategy session.
In the letter sent to Papa John’s directors on Saturday, according to CNBC, the former chairman also mentioned Kanye West, saying the media agency suggested he partner with the musician on TV ads and promotions. According to the letter, Schnatter refused to work with West because “he uses the N-word in his lyrics”.
Schnatter’s use of the N-word came in a later, separate part of the call, CNBC said.

This is what happens when you apologize for something you didn't do.

I've seen the conspiracy that Papa John's was going to merge with Wendy's, someone didn't want that to happen, so the provoked Schnatter in a faux CC to say that. After all, he's not going down without a fight and is claiming blackmail.

It's extremely hypocritical to crucify one while awarding the other for using the same disgusting word.

How do you make a faux conference call to get somebody to say the n word? I’m not saying it can’t happen, but it does seem pretty implausible.

I could never understand why John would resign when he was acting out a role play.
I asked the question: who recorded the conversation.
He still owns 1/3 of company and is popular with shareholders.
He's got a chance to get back on the horse.

If he is that easily duped by a diversity trainer on a phone conference, he has become too soft headed and gullible to run the company. Move him out.
The funniest part is how Papa John blamed it on Colonel Sanders, whose family rushed to his defense as a paragon of racial inclusion and tolerance. Except the colonel was a big supporter of segregationist George Wallace.
Makes me wonder what Ronald McDonald would say about it, I heard his first wife was black.

Hes got all the money he can ever spend...but some folks just love what they do. He wouldnt do commercials if he didnt love running the show. Id say sell the 1/3 then start a new pizza franchise.

Based on the PZZA stock price over the last 2 years I think the resignation was justified
