It's a myth that they're super duper smart also.

I worked in tech with a bunch. They study the shite out of any thing you give them. Very few I worked with can help if something goes off plan though. They are like robots.

Further reading says 22% of those accepted are Asian, with 32% of that 22% being Indian. Quick math….maybe 7% of the total?

Bwahaha. Don't worry, OP. They didn't take your spot.

I mean it’s fine for foreigners to study here…. Just don’t expect to stay here. Go back home and make your home country a better place.

I’m open for keeping some of them in areas of need though.

It makes it easy to choose a physician.

I'll take the white male any day of the week because I know that honkey had to perform 10x his peers to even sniff medical school.

White male

Asian male
Asian female
Latino
Latina

Black male/female

Sorry my bad… but still

Also the part of H1B visas doesn’t directly apply to these students. The vast majority of US medical schools require the students to be legal residents with many of them being citizens.

You’re confusing them for residency in which a lot of the residents are IMGs (international medical graduates) and come here directly from their home countries on visas sponsored by their hospitals

Those programs are pretty hard to get in as well.

PA schools yeah. There’s still selectively there and a decent rigorous curriculum

NP schools outside the well established ones? Nah. Quite a few with over a 90% acceptance rate. Quite a few of them are online these days too. Also it used to be a requirement/norm that a nurse worked several years before starting NP school, now a lot of them go straight into it after completing their bachelors

Chamberlain just opened a PA program. The saturation problem is absolutely happening with them too.

The ROI for mid-levels just isn’t there anymore. CRNA is an extreme outlier and most nurses will never get into it due to how selective nurse anesthesia schools are. I do have my suspicions though that CRNA schools will inevitably increase enrollment slots to offset the CAA boom. But that will likely not happen for another 10-15 years as there’s only 5,000 anesthesia assistants in the US. They can’t even practice in most states due to the CRNA lobby.

I think 95% of the 32% become gastroenterologist. Something about those snake charmers that love the rectum.

My youngest daughter has been considering Pre Med. She's shadowed a handful of physicians and the overwhelming opinion they are giving her is "Don't waste your 20s, go be a PA or a NP and enjoy college."

To which she is really considering going the NP route.

As a young physician I would tell your daughter to either go MD or do something outside of medicine. Dont do NP or PA.

I agree, but what are your reasons for stating this?

What specialty do you practice in?

Salary achievable for mid levels are good but not great.

Also I want to be the best at my field. Not an assistant.

So you want DEI for white people instead of hiring the best candidate

So you would rather have someone less qualified and more prone to error operating on you than an Indian?
