Billions of dollars are, and will be, coming into United States coffers because of Tariffs. Great also for negotiations - if a country won’t give us a fair Trade Deal, we will institute Tariffs on them. Used or not, jobs and businesses will be created. U.S. respected again!

I voted for Trump and I'm not a fan of the tariffs either. Actually, I never thought I'd see a day where free market conservatives championed anti free trade policies. I hope they don't last long.

I think what our president is saying is that the trade is not free. He is trying to make it more free and equal.

What is wrong with that?

Agreed.

Can't believe they are cheering more taxes AND corporate welfare.

Also, it's fricking insane that anyone has the power all by themselves to raise taxes.

Free Trade is ideal.

Us allowing other countries to trade freely with us, while at the same time blocking our goods, or imposing a tariff(under the name of VAT) isn't free trade.

Sure when we apply a tariff, our consumers pay more. When those same consumers lose their jobs after nothing is made here anymore, then the net effect is they ended up paying much much more.

Soon you will figure out that the right wing posters on this Board don't actually hold any logical belief system at all. Once you reach that level of knowledge and truth, it will all make sense.

Being a conservative doesn't mean negotiating like a limp-wristed liberal.

Jeez dude. Please tell me you don't actually think the trade agreements we had in the past were "free."

Then let's pull out of the trade deals. I've got no real problem with that. Tariffs are indeed a tax on US businesses and consumers. I think they will hurt our economy if left in place for long.

Let me know when tariffs add net new jobs to our economy.

While you are studying that perhaps you can explain how more people are working at higher wages than ever before in the USA while our trade deficit is huge?

Tell me, did you reach this level of "knowledge and truth" while taking it from behind or while puffing on the peter?

When people say they are not a fan of tariffs in the past that meant U.S. tariffs bad, trading partner tariffs okay.

What does not being a fan of tariffs mean to you?

They don't. You are just pulling money out of other areas of the economy into the products with the increased costs from tariffs. The problem is that it's fairly difficult to measure.

Just yesterday you tried to make the argument that nationalism is racist.

Pardon us for not taking the same side as your "logical belief system."
