Our political differences are unreconcilable

An analogy I heard regarding when regular politics cease to work:
Imagine two people in a car driving across town the the airport. Both parties agree they want to go to the airport, but strongly disagree about the best route to take. This is an example of normal, functional politics. They are going to squabble about every turn and possible road they take, but ultimately since they both want to go to the same destination, the car can effectively make progress towards the common goal.
Now imagine a different scenario. Two people are in a car, one of them wants to drive to the airport and the other wants to drive to the bus station on the opposite side of town. The two parties are no longer arguing about the best way to achieve a common goal, they have fundamentally different goals that are contrary to each other. This is an inherently dysfunctional situation that cannot last very long.

Not true. Were not killing each other we just like to complain. When shite really goes down we all help each other.

Or that’s how the media, including social media, wants you to view the state of our union.

Solid analogy.
Except we aren’t even bickering over the airport vs the bus station; we’re warring over going to Jupiter vs some exoplanet light years away.

Politically, there is no reconciliation. Pandora’s box has been opened. Just because most Americans are fat and ignorant doesn’t mean there is not trouble ahead.

agreed.....unfortunately
if the dems had their way the old “the land of the free and the home of the brave” would be changed to "the land of the free shite because of the white slave".
eta: and anyone who opposes this is a RACIST!!!

that's kind of an astute summary
when the left is openly promoting the literal attacking of western culture and the basics of our country, you can say they've left any pretense of "governing" behind. they want change and strict adherence as well, so it's difficult for even their side to keep up with the flanks.

I agree that they are irreconcilable and that Secession should be explored and considered as a possible future option. IMHO, the USA is on the path to becoming a failed nation-state. If it really is going to be a failed nation-state, Leftism will be the cause.

It all comes down to worldviews. We use worldviews to interpret reality and when our worldviews are so different, we can't even agree on the same definitions of words, much less make progress towards the same goal.

Bamarep has sadly been saying all along this won't end peacefully.

If you're not making friends now, for both you and your kids down the line, you're probably headed for trouble.
Personally, I'm woefully behind. I have lots of acquaintances, but not enough friends. It's my fault... life and business left me little time to nurture relationships.
You felt it during Obama years, but thought, "hey, we're divided but we'll come together. I can ride this dude out, other side will ride it out too...".
Fortunately (or unfortunately), the last 2-3 years have opened my eyes so I can begin to prepare before it's too late.
The people are divided, the government is corrupted at a national level where the IRS targets people and a President was set up and attempted to be taken out. That's unbelievable.
The thing is, it takes hundreds/thousands of people complicit to make these things happen. Who would have thought that? But it's happened.
How do you pull back from that? You don't. One side has to win and one has to lose.

Agreed. What amazes me are people that can't seem to look at anything objectively. If an R or a D says something, it is either true or false. Look at these stupid party line votes in Congress as an example.

Society is about five missed meals from absolute chaos. Don’t let Netflix and iPhones fool you.

All that is left for the two people to do is fight over the keys while the bus leaves the station and the plane takes off.
