Our system intends to on Aug. 6th. I’m skeptical. Gonna send mine to private school if the public schools don’t open. I ought to send them to private school anyway but I’m a tight wad.

Parents should start throwing Covid-19 dates and playmates parties to control and synchronize the timing of the infection. Those 1960's mom's who grew up, and went to school during the polio epidemics, didn't have measles parties because they were evil assholes. They did it because as a parent it was the right thing to do, and they wanted their children to have a decent chance at a 'normal' life. 14 days and then they can hug their grandparents again, go to school, learn how to socialize, and maybe, just maybe, learn to read and write.

The football teams are doing it, hell even Alabama students are doing it...

If schools don’t reopen and instead go virtual for either part time or full time, there are going to be some very pissed off parents and employers.

If I am not having my kids physically in school being taught , why the frick am I paying high property tax and the highest sales taxes in Louisiana?

If they don’t open I don’t want to ever hear them whining about raises again....and my wife is a teacher.

I’ve asked around to several parents of private school kids and I felt like their look at me was, “Why would we not start back on time.” Probably a good indicator that private school is where I ought to have my kids in the first place.

New Orleans charters are looking at K-5 starting as early as 8/3. High School will get a mix of in-person and on-line. Middle schools would vary depending on enrollment size and physical location. Highly likely that when they break for Thanksgiving they won't return until January.
