I think this is Sweden’s model too.

Extensive contact tracing and testing. It’s absolutely the way to go If you have the resources to do it.

There comes a point in an outbreak however where the toothpaste is out of the tube and it can’t be done. This is when it’s too widespread for contact trace investigations

Haha yeah I could eradicate it in my house if I had a few test found the sick and quarantined them. But without testing everyone in county in a short period of time then locking them down this is not a reality for the country.

Correct. Particularly in a country as geographically large as our country.

Not to mention the incubation period makes it even more difficult.

A town of 3000 was able to defeat the virus by locking down the entire town and quarantining those who had the virus.
Could this be done in a larger city? In BR? NO? NYC? Would Americans stay quarantined? Would their city tolerate a lockdown?

After observing my fellow Walmart shoppers this AM that wouldn't be too good here.

Key words...Population 3300

US population 330 Million. It's not feasible to test, then lockdown anything in the US. Too many people, too geographically dispersed.

strict quarantine

For some reason, the overwhelming mass of humanity throughout history has known dudes aren't supposed to marry dudes and that strict quarantine is the way to beat infectious disease.

Apparently, some think we're exceptions to such rules.

I said this years ago about AIDS and was scorned for homophobia.

That disease could have been eradicated 20 years ago. Test people at risk. Quarantine. Disease gone.
