They are now terrorists and as such they are a threat from within. Cartels are here in the USA.

Trump can now use the military here to remove the threats.

This not just about those in mexico.

Just seal the border completely. Cartels can't really argue about that. But, if and when they lash out with violence, this declaration opens up a lot of options, including financial options which will extend to those connected to the cartels.

I think it clearly gives the ranchers help in Texas. People are going to start killing the coyotes and no they will be protected.

I fully expect the birder to completly shut off

Yes they are and they're everywhere. Cities, towns, unincorporated areas. They've also had members join the military. This won't be as simple as many posters here think it will be. Especially so as they're driven by our thirst for their products.

Buckle up.

I've long understood that.

But for that part that includes Mexico we will be obligated to accept refugees and asylum seekers for a war that we start in their lands. I know I will get blasted for that but it is true.

The innocent civilian deaths in no-knock raids will be LIT.

Seriously, how does anyone think this is a good idea? What, in the history of the War on Drugs, has proven to be good for the average US citizen?

No1 believes this will be easy. None of what Trump plans to do will be easy, but it's got to be done.

It will never ever happen. You gonna seal off the ocean? Drone technology? Tunnels? They'll adapt as they always have and don't forget that people are corrupt as hell. Smuggling will always happen as long as the demand exists. We are the biggest problem and that part isn't discussed nearly enough in my eyes.

You are correct in that it's not going to be easy.

I would think the plan to be use the military to cut off the supply line to those here. Then move on camps here. Big operations of growing etc are here.

Have ice snatch them up in cities.

You really can't "seal" the border. It doesn't matter how many walls you put up, the cartels will just find a new way to smuggle in drugs. Drones, commercial vehicles, personal vehicles, boats, commercial flights, private flights, trains, tunnels, and even simple slingshots can overcome any border security we put up.

The buck stops with the American people. I'm at a point were I think we need to just stop handing narcan out like candy and let the drugs sort the weak people out. Drug abusers aren't victims. They're complicit in making cartels rich.

That's not a political issue but a cultural and societal issue.

Sounds like we have a new use for Guantanamo. I wonder if there are any Arizona politicians that are sweating right now?

Going after them financially is something I can get behind. Bombing cities and towns (targeted of course) causes an entirely different set of problems that will need to be planned and prepared for. Our guys are going to take losses if they go in on the ground. It's inevitable. Is it worth it? I suppose it could be and I certainly will not speak poorly of the guys going in and doing the work and risking their lives. I just question what gains can possibly be made overall. Mainly because of us. We want their products. It's a demand issue and that is what gives me significant pause. Gains would be much more easily made if we didn't have the cultural rot that we do (broken homes, glamorizing gangster life etc...). If that doesn't get fixed I just don't see how this war can ever be truly won. Honestly, that saddens me about the human condition.

So let's not try anything at all. If it's difficult, it's better that we not even try.

Tell us your idea to fix it?

Or you think we should just let them be?
