Obama was better for the stock market than Trump

President Donald Trump has repeatedly pointed to the stock market as one of the best ways to measure his administration’s policies.

During Trump’s presidency, the S&P 500 has gained 25% from inauguration day through August 14. How does that stack up to stock performance at the same point in other modern presidencies? (646 trading days, to be exact).

Stocks were stronger under Barack Obama

Statistics and percentages can be used to manipulate anything.
If you look at a chart of the market, the reason Obama was so good was that it was near the bottom so it had only one way to go which was up. It is convenient they didn’t post a chart and you could see this.

You can't tally Trump's average stock gain percentages until his term of office is complete.

Bro, do you even "Expansion, Peak, Contraction, and Trough"?
Posted on 8/15/19 at 5:24 am to Tarps99
Exactly. If it was at 1 and went to 2 it would be a 100% rise in value. The rise or fall of the current market stated in whatever wealth metric you choose to use is a useful measure. Obama inherited a market way down that was then propped by vast government spending. Much of it on trivia (does Obama phones ring a bell) and political payback and supporters (startup companies type payoffs) but still.

And Obama reduced the deficit unlike Trump who is blowing it through the roof.

From November 2014 to Election Day 2016, under Obama, the DJIA was flat at ~17900.
From election day to inauguration day the Dow climbed 2000pts, over 11% in 2.5 months. Ironically, you'd probably credit that rise to Obama.

Dow Jones average is currently over 25,000. It was 11,722 on Jan 1, 2000.

3 rounds of quantitative easing, printed trillions to prop-up the market for Jug Ears.

The stock market and economy did amazing under both Obama and Clinton. Can’t really refute that

He added 10 trillion to the national debt. Doubled it in 8 years.

Trump is on pace for almost 9 trillion if he gets 8 years in office. In a much better economy as well by comparison. Pathetic

He's repairing the damage done by Jug Ears.

He's at 2 right now....
And your psychic math predicts 9?
Hell, why not make him on track for 100?
Your argument is PATHETIC.

One thing Obama did do was keep his foot on Putin and he never colluded behind the back of the American people and in secret. Nor would he have ever dreamed of spying on the opposition party or allowing the FBI and the intelligence services to impede and or interfere in an election.
On another note Barack Obama would have absolutely been impeached and indicted as Trump will be if he is caught live on a supposedly "dead" mike colluding with Vlade through a conspiracy with a third Russian to delay and fool the voters so as not to affect the 2020 election.
