Basically took 14 people who voted for Obama and Trump at least once. Some of them may have voted for Trump in 2016, but not 2020.

Multi-racial as well.

quote:

Frank Luntz: Give me a word or phrase to describe life in America today.

quote:

Scott (53, white, Florida, works in health care): Divided.

Janet (66, white, Ohio, customer service): Dismal.

Julia (50, white, Illinois, small-business owner): Disappointment.

Don (36, multiracial, Georgia, elementary school educator): Indescribable.

Tenae (44, Black, California, director of security dispatch): New normal.

Nick (43, white, Pennsylvania, merchandise designer): Burned out.

Azariah (38, Black, New York, hospitality): Stressful.

Travis (45, white, Kansas, corporate finance): Lost.

quote:

Alice (60, Latina, New York, supervisor for homeless services): I think they’ve taken us back to cave man time, where you would walk around with a club. “I want what you have.” You’re not even safe to walk around and go to the train station, because somebody might throw you off the train, OK? It’s a regression.

Jim (59, Asian, California, office manager): We’re being tested, and everyone is uncertain.

Dickie (38, white, Texas, financial analyst): When Alice was talking about the cave man thing, I can agree with that. I’ve had my bike stolen here in Austin, in a very gentrified neighborhood, four different times in the last seven, eight months. Things are kind of chaotic. I feel like there’s no rules, really.

The strangest part to me about independent voters like this is it doesn't seem to matter how much democrats wreck their lives or fail, they still think democrats are a more "empathetic" party and they still view them favorably.

I encourage the full read, they aren't happy and also they don't care about Jan.6 or voting rights stuff.

I loathe independent voters. If you haven't figure out which side you are on after the least 12 years, you don't need to be voting.

The divisive two party federal system is a horrible way to base your entire voting decision

Dickie from Texas is definitely trying to turn Texas blue and will ponder for the rest of his life what changed about Texas since he’s moved there.

Most independent voters are fricking morons who have no concrete values or principles. They’re the political equivalent of bisexuals. Suck a dick one day, eat some poon the next.

I mean seriously, if you can’t see that the left is full on authoritarian, you’re a retard.

It’s a mindset that’s ingrained.

And it’s generational. I had a grandfather who was born in 1910 who thought FDR was the greatest thing since sliced bread. “Democrats are for the working man, Republicans are for the rich” was his staunch belief. Never mind that FDR was an extremely wealthy man.

They are stupid people who allow themselves to be inundated by all of the various media formats and their propaganda. Intuitively, they know what is correct, but they see seemingly overwhelming numbers of people in the media saying otherwise. They aren't grounded in their beliefs and capriciously swing from side to side in election after election.

Seriously, if I’d had 4 bicycles stolen in the past 7-8 months, I think I’d start considering another mode of transportation.

I don't think they necessarily view them more favorably than the R party, but White people bend themselves out of shape to avoid being labeled a racist. And the Dem war cry these days is "Republicans are racist".

This is a shite take. The two party divide has become a false dichotomy. In a rational world, everyone would engage independent thought to make their voting choices. The two party system suggests you can choose a party and know what you're getting. If you're on the right, that is no longer true.

That's the dumb part.

Hey. It's cool and all that Biden's approval is slipping and perhaps there's going to be a pendulum swing in the mid-terms. Better than the alternative.

But all that tells me is that we have a healthy number of people in this nation that are so fricking stupid, they vacillated from Trump, to Biden, to "oh shite, I didn't see this coming".

And it's not just this time. They've done it before. There's simply no rational way to be Trump 2016, Biden 2020 then, Repub all the way mid terms 2022. It means you're retarded.

That was the viewpoint of wife and my in-laws when I got married. It only took a few years to show them the truth. It’s an old belief that is ingrained into good, hard working people who are too busy to take a step back and really look at what’s going on.

The left doesn't know what to do without the orange man to rage against and for whom they could blame all of their problems.

Really kind of silly, given

has completely devalued the term.

It’s just playing their game.

What's going on at the NYT?

I figured they'd go the way CNN does with " independent" voters and pump Brandon a lot of sunshine.

How do independent voters feel about President Biden and America after his first year in office? Let’s put it this way: His weak approval ratings might go up if he pulled a Trump and just declared that America was moving on from the pandemic and he was going all in against inflation and high gas prices. Never mind about voting rights or avoiding another Jan. 6. It’s the economy, Joe.

So it seemed listening to a new Times Opinion focus group with 14 independent voters, who are far more worried about their finances than about Covid’s impact, as the transcript of the conversation below shows. Asked what they held Mr. Biden responsible for and what they would tell him if they had the chance, the independents emphasized energy prices, the economy and the importance of being a moderate, as well as a desire to avoid Covid mandates and lockdowns. The virus might not be done with America, but several of these independents are done with the virus.

Two paragraphs worth of information that is important to all voters except political pundits, Ivy League Academics and approximately 1/10 of the Democrat Party. Real smart addressing your remarks to this elite group yesterday, Joe.

The people you need — DGAF about anything you said yesterday. And were not impressed that you spent a whole two hours rambling about shite they don’t care about.

It's exceedingly true.

They tend to go up there and vote with their party remarkably consistently. You may "like" a candidate more than his opponent, but you're still gonna get votes that look like almost everyone else in that candidate's party. So, if you don't like the stances of the party..........

Yes

Many older white liberals have no idea their own party loathes them.
