statist pigs
but wait, there's more!
so NYPD's assessment is that it's illegal for a person to observe a public act by the NYPD and then communicate this act to others
how any of you motherfrickers can advocate to give these sociopathic animals more power over our lives is beyond me
quote:
“This letter serves to put you on notice that the NYPD has become aware that the Waze Mobile application, a community-driven GPS navigation application owned by Google LLC, currently permits the public to report DWI checkpoints throughout New York City and map these locations on the application,” the NYPD wrote.
but wait, there's more!
quote:
“Individuals who post the locations of DWI checkpoints may be engaging in criminal conduct since such actions could be intentional attempts to prevent and/or impair the administration of the DWI laws and other relevant criminal and traffic laws,” the letter continued. “The posting of such information for public consumption is irresponsible since it only serves to aid impaired and intoxicated drivers to evade checkpoints and encourage reckless driving. Revealing the location of checkpoints puts those drivers, their passengers, and the general public at risk.”

an agency that has the power to arrest you for this conduct and possibly ruin your life while being 100% wrong is the issue
*ETA: and while arresting you if you stop to ask what's going on, they can choke you to death without criminal prosecution

Agree and this is why we have civil lawsuits

this is well above cops
this is the culture and the institutions who give cops authority and then protect them when they abuse that authority
cops are just drones acting within a broken system

How were these ruled constitutional again

which are often toothless unless the incident becomes a major political issue with major stakes for the power

There's a reason why police departments will not hire you if you're too smart and place too high on the IQ test.
Can't have the enforcement arm of the state asking questions about their job.

if it pleases the king, may i get permission to drive on roads i paid for?
most of this broken case law is built on the myth that driving is a privilege bestowed upon the peons by the state, so the state has extreme authority to regulate any action related to driving. courts are bootlicking the police state's war on drugs, essentially

It is my understanding that it’s legally the same thing , a communication. Which the courts have ruled is protected by the first amendment.
Also, FYI, DWI checkpoints are a violation of the 4th amendment anyway. Courts have ruled as such but then basically say the end justifies the means so they will be allowed regardless if they are unconstitutional or not.

Totalitarians gonna totalitarian.
That DWI checkpoints passed the Supreme Court smell test is pretty much lock solid proof that our constitution is a pretend document.

We been through this with the guy flashing his lights to warn drivers of Speed Traps. You can't stop people from communicating.

Death Penalty
The traffic stop led to a tragic sequence of events that ended with the officer shooting Guilford seven times after the prosecutor said the high school student refused to turn over his identification, resisted arrest then assaulted the officer. The youth's family filed a civil suit in the death Wednesday. A portion of the suit challenges whether Michigan's law does indeed prohibit the momentary flashing of high beams.

The scariest thing to me after the Boston Bombing was watching these wanna be soldiers comb through that town. And afterwards the people there cheered.
