Do people actually go out of their way to read black books or watch black films during black history month or the same for women's history month?
I really dont care who or what makes the book or film, if its good I am going to watch or read it.

Every month honors/recognizes/commemorates a dozen different things, and only a miniscule percentage are government-sponsored.
On each issue, you can choose to participate or not.
