And to think, all I got was sent to the principals office for a paddling.

North Carolina teacher resigns after taping 11-year-old's mouth shut: 'He was humiliated'

quote:

A North Carolina mother is speaking out after her son sent her a photo from his classroom showing his mouth taped shut in a disciplinary measure taken by his teacher.

Catherine Webster told WRAL-TV that her 11-year-old son Brady had sent her a photo last month from his Smithfield Middle School sixth-grade classroom, showing his mouth covered with several strips of blue painter's tape over his mouth after he allegedly had been too talkative in class.

"I don’t know what to do," Brady’s text message to his mother said.

"He was humiliated," Webster told the outlet.

Kid probably is an arsehat with no dad around. Teacher will get a better job away from these idiots.

Would your kid be disruptive in class? You raise your kids to be hood rats? I think not. I don't think your kids would ever be in that position because you're a good father who raises his kids to be good, respectful kids, right?

I had something like that happen to me when I was a kid and the LAST thing I would do is tell my father (single father). He would have slapped my head and tell me to shut up and pay attention during class. No way in hell I'd tell my father.

Teacher shouldn’t have done that. If it was my kid, the teacher should have called me and I would go to school and tape his mouth shut.

I witnessed my first grade teacher wash a kids mouth out with soap.

My Swedish grandmother did that to me. I learned some colorful words as a young military brat.

This board is full of dumbfricks sometimes. We get downvoted because a teacher assaults a kid.

Y’all must be shitty parents to allow a teacher to do that to a f’ing kid

Great reporting. We have both the boy and the boy's mother's name. Yet, there is no mention of the actual teacher who did this.

It was routine and protocol for teachers to use masking tape in the early 80s.

It only took taking in class once or twice.

We all survived.

my very first thought

we are raising a generation of pussies - who get 'triggered' at the slightest imperfection in their view.

We grew up back in the 'bad old days' as a very polite society.

Soft. When I was a kid in elementary school during the 1970s several of my classmates had their mouths "taped shut." That was preferred to the arse whipping you could get from the principal.

I actually had a teacher do this to me when I was a kid. I wouldn't have ever told my dad, cause he would have whipped my arse for forcing my teacher to do this.

The fact that the kid isn't in the wrong for having this done to him is why kids are the way the are today. Shut up in class or accept the consequences, stop with the pity party about him being humiliated.

Been on the receiving end of that. That was my mother's thing. Dad's thing was the wooden paddle with holes drilled in it. But when I grew up the 50's/60's I couldn't imagine talking back to the janitor or bus driver.
