No room in the US for advanced learners:Virginia explores plan to end advanced diplomas

Virginia education official says 'graduation requirements can operate as a lever for equity.'
The dumbing down of everything in America because the bottom of society can't be bothered to learn or achieve continues at lightning speed. The Old Dominion is doing its best to make sure that there are NO incentives for being smart, ambitious, and achievement-focused. 'When everyone's gifted, no one is.'
"This is about ... how and where graduation requirements can operate as a lever for equity," Sale said around the 1:26:26 mark during the presentation. "So, first, we're going to start with...the possibility of consolidating the standard and advanced studies diploma."
She continued: "Hopefully, this discussion will allow us to think through how we maintain a rigorous academic foundation in a way that's really equitably serving the needs and aspirations of all of Virginia learners."
They have no aspirations except, perhaps, finding all the ways not to do any work and become an ms13 member.
China has already won, and the war hasn't even started!

Next step - replacing diplomas for graduates with “certificates of attendance” that kids who can’t pass receive instead.

Don't uplift. Instead, bring everyone down to the same level.

Idiocracy (the movie) was supposed to be a comedy, not a preview!

They've already tried to eliminate standardized testing and grades. Why not?
So fricked up that people feel holding others back is the only way to help an entire race of people.
I blame Upward Sports for a lot of this bullshite.

That movie made me sick, but I increasingly see its relevance.

Patronizing an entire race. THAT is what’s really racist.

Let’s do the same for sports then.

As a former student of Virginia public education the advanced diploma was intensely stressed to us not as a better diploma but merely as a tougher course load. The only difference was a sticker on your physical diploma. The colleges you applied to didn't know if you got a regular diploma or an advanced one. They only saw the advanced course work. That's what was explicitly told to us over and over again in middle school and in high school every time we were figuring out course loads.
ETA: the advanced diploma should stay. And it really should be the only option for those kids. It wasn't that tough. The hardest part about it is completing a third year of a language.

Already a thing.....for special needs. But yeah, I get your point, you’re right

Colleges DO care about advanced course loads. In an age when standardized testing is being eliminated for the sake of (barf) 'equity' colleges use course rigor as a selection factor.
Yes, it really does matter if you take Calculus in 12th grade or 'consumer math.' And you should get rewarded for it!

They aren't helping them. It looks like they are helping them but in reality they are putting them in a trick bag.

And just look at the outcomes......

Awesome. I love it. Hope the suburban moms love their new educational leaders.

Thankfully I pocketed my valedictory honors before they dreamed up this shite.
was a small class but someone had to be first
The Ivy League should admit via a lottery.

Sorry I was not clear. The whole point of the "advanced" diploma was to get students to take harder courses. Not to get the shiny sticker. I'm saying the advanced diploma standard should stay.
