I want to know how much money every current member of the house and senate was worth before getting elected and how much money they are worth now? Is that information even available for a regular person to find out? That would be very eye opening information imho. Has anybody ever publicly pursued that information? I tried to google how much a career politician like John McCain was worth before he was elected and how much he was worth when he died and I came up on bind teet. Is anybody else curious to know this information?

I am fascinated by the ability of politicians to amass tens of millions of dollars while making 174,000 a year.

They are ALL crooks who take bribes for influence.

This is why they spend so much money to get a job which only pays 174,000.

It will be interesting to see what AOC is worth in 5 years being she was flat broke when she was elected.

Really not a fan of that list. I don't really care about any of the people who increased in net worth by less than 200,000 in the course of 10 years, or even the people who increased by 300,000 over the course of 40 years. That likely would have happened even if they stayed in the private sector. Some of those just look like their net worth increased simply because they started getting paid more than they were getting paid before joining Congress. I can't imagine people care about that, other than the realization that we pay elected officials too much. I don't think this is a situation where sorting by "Percentage increase" really works. Everyone in Congress gets paid enough that an increase in net worth should be possible, so I'm far more concerned with the amount of their net worth increases and not the percentage. I wish they had also offered a list sorted that way.

They also make certain to give a note explaining that Chellie Pingree, Democrat from Maine, gained her net worth by marrying a billionaire, but then have no such note explaining that Michael McCaul, Republican from Texas, gained his net worth because his wife's dad founded and sold Clear Channel Communications and she inherited that fortune. Seems like a very striking omission.

I present to you...."The Clinton Foundation", the "McCain Foundation", etc.... foundations are the primary vessels through which politicians increase their wealth by laundering bribes/donations under humanitarian guises. Soros was a heavy "donor" to the McCain Foundation.

Looks to me that Arkansas has the most honest politician in DC. His name is Rick Crawford, Republican.

Ok I’m with you on that I’m only looking for vast increases in wealth. I hope I didn’t give the impression that I wasn’t expecting them all to prosper somewhat. I’m looking for lower to mid six figures that increased to millions quickly. I’m still knee deep in the link so I can’t post facts yet.

Clearly you don’t understand what happens when someone is elected. Let me explain.... Elected officials acquire an extraordinary ability to read markets, trends, etc. their portfolios magically seem to outperform some of the most elite funds in the US. This is only half of the story.... they also become overnight real estate savants. They often get lucky by investing in under valued property a few months or a year before some type of major development is announced and they make small fortunes doing this.

Occasionally a few hit home runs in Futures trading. Take Hillary Clinton for example. After Bill was elected governor... through shrewd calculation no doubt.... managed to parlay a $10K investment in cattle futures to over $100K a short time later. Yes, she had no previous experience in Futures or cattle but Bill had been elected so she acquired those extraordinary investment skills through him.

It’s really pretty simple and explainable.

Yes I forgot to mention the foundation schemes. Please read the book “Brotherhood Of Darkness” by Dr Stanley Monteith. He gets into how foundations and not for profit schemes work. Basically I want to see what the democrats that are spouting socialism made in their political careers. The native american Warren, Bernie, and Betoz or wtf his name is.

Yea I’m a shite bird capitalist and have been blue collar all my life so it’s accurate to say “I don’t know how their system works”. Out of your educated opinion on the matter, how much prophet is made legitimately and how much is made dirty?

You do realize the justification they use for the big salaries is, we have to keep up two homes and the cost of living in DC is exorbitant.

According to ballatopedia 49 congress people went from negative net worth to positive while in office. And the average increase was $3.4 million. HoLeePhuck

Read about Mitch McConnell and his Chinese wife’s family shipping business and the kickbacks that have gone on with that. Multiple instances of influencing our policies have been supported by him to help out his interests.

Joe Biden and John Kerry’s sons’ lobbying firm and their escapades in China and the Ukraine are also very insightful. Don’t even get me started on the Obama circle and the Clinton’s.
