Edit:

I danced before I read. In truth, Trump’s supposed opposition looks about as weak as can be.

I realize that government intervention in the fuel market is extensive, and also that a lot of time and money was invested to create this ethanol industry. To end it abruptly would cause serious harm to a big segment. They need to find a way to phase it out.

This policy was the government picking winners and losers in the first place.

Burning our food was never a good idea.

The gains were offset by the energy used to increase the agriculture production,
convert the corn to alcohol and the reduced fuel economy from ethanol use.

Its absurd that we are propping up the ethanol industry (big corn) the way we are.

True dat - The government has made so many mistakes that have caused people to alter their desired way of life and have invested in the 'new' regulations, that it would be extremely disruptive to just abruptly stop it all.

Things need to be phased out over some reasonable but ambitious timeframe.

Same goes for lots of other things too.

I paid .50 more per gallon for corn free gas the other day than regular unleaded. So, will that price level out more if corn is taken out of our gas or will it remain at a high price as it presently does?

This is what im thinking. I would give them a 10 year window of opportunity to become a viable fuel source and at the end of it the current ethanol mandates would expire. That would be a solid 25 years to establish themselves in the market. The federal govt should not be holding the hand of big ethanol for the next 50 to 100 years. At some point you have to let them sink or swim as an industry.

I would like a simple cost benefit analysis on the use of corn and then use it that way.

If ethanol is not the best use but is required to prop up the amount grown then grow something else more useful.

I would think so. It is higher because it is not as widely used.

Ethonol is awful. It robs cars of mileage and proformance. Dont believe me, fill up with some 93 octane No-E gas and check your mileage.

Ethanol should be outlawed.

Ethanol has also jacked food prices up around the world, especially in places like latin and South America. This is what happens when you take a food the world depends upon and turn it into fuel.

I know when I have to fill up with that shite I lose 3 mpgs and it throws codes on my 2002f150 for lean fuel mixtures.

Regular gas ZERO issues for years.
