And it won't stop there. Single payer Healthcare will be next. Global warming regs after that. Everything will be a crisis. Just wait and watch. This is a slippery fricking slope.

Trump may win in 2020 with a Wall, but you can't even begin to imagine what things will be like under a Democrat President come 2024.

I agree generally but I don't know that an emergency declaration could stand up to a constitutional amendment. That would get severe opposition from the judicial and legislative branches.

Yes, there is a real possibility the Dems can win in 2020. And if they take the senate efforts will be non-stop to do all the shite they want to do. Gun control, healthcare for all, climate change stuff, citizenship for any and all, voting rights for anyone and all that type of stuff simmering just below the surface now. I suspect we will see efforts to push statehood for Puerto Rico and DC. Increase the Supreme Court to 13 members. In 2008 there was talk about and the beginning of Fundamental Transformation. After 2020 it will be Fundamental Transformation all the time. At least Nancy Pelosi will be over 80. How much gas does she have left in the tank?

I do find it humorous that the way he phrases it is that single payer healthcare is somehow worse than massive gun control

Our healthcare system is a ripoff that is figuratively raping our economy. It can't get much worse.

With massive gun control and a massive well armed federal government things could get ugly fast as history shows us.

Democrats will do whatever they want whenever they want regardless of what Republicans do.

Republicans spent the entire decade of the 2000's wringing their hands about the "nuclear option" because "the democrats would use it".

Well what the frick did that accomplish?

Exactly. Oh dont do the nuclear option, and we will end up with three SCJ in three years.

Oh dont redo NAFTA, oh dont mess with china or the EU. And we are getting a totally new trading arrangement with the world, where guess what, the largest buyer gets the best deals, imagine that, something traders discovered two thousand years ago and our "bright" minds in DC could not figure out.

They are abusing Trump's child, his wife, and trying to throw him in jail. And he is supposed to take the high road when he is attacked for the 1000th time, frick that, bar all senators and congress from taking military flights, if they want a govt plane tell them to run for president.

And call a national emergency and build the friggin wall, get me some immigration judges, stop welfare for first five years, have a point system, and have any, thats ANY criminal activity result in a ticket home, with the friggin family no token bambino left behind to continue to collect benes on your behalf. And that includes IRS fraud.

Why does everyone think the next Democratic President needs the precedent of Trump building a wall by issuing a state of emergency?

They already know it’s a tool in the toolbox. If they know it’s available then IMO they WILL use it. Doesn’t really matter what Trump does.

I just don’t get this sentiment. The left has absolutely never refrained from doing anything and will absolutely attempt to push their lunacy on us as soon as they can. We need to take everything we can now.

I agree with the sentiment. But general gun control won't be the issue. That would be justifiably stopped in its tracks.

They'll kill off hunting first. Eliminate one of the reasons for citizens to own guns. Step by step...

This guy gets it.

What makes people think the Dems would wait for a precedent?

Will it be attempted? Yes.

Will it succeed? No.

First, the declaration can be nullified by simple majority in both houses under the NEA.

Second, any such declaration still subject to judicial scrutiny under the Youngstown decision (although, under that reasoning it would be on more solid ground because of the statute, but not untouchable).
