talking to the attackers...

What luck to be imbedded in a spontaneous protest.

The Times is obviously a proponent of the continued digging method for liberating one's self from an hole.

How do you have an eyewitness reporter at the Benghazi attack and not mention it for over a year?

That, my friend, is the pertinent question.

What little credibility the NYT had left has been erased with this disclosure.

Well. Who was the reporter and why hasn't he written his own damn account of the attack?

Let me think: they found someone in the area who claims to have been an eyewitness and they hired him as a reporter after the fact?

Original NY Times article cites 2 contributors from Benghazi.

Both of whom wrote that the attacks, were wholly or in part, premeditated.

Are contributors and reporters considered to be the same thing?

I have no clue. I generally ignore the NYT unless I've had a bad day. Then I go read Krugman's blog to feel better about myself.

But yeah, if the NYT had reporters/contributors/paperboys on the scene, then why in the hell have they not been interviewed by the committee?

What makes the reference to these two "contributors" particularly puzzling is that both have said in subsequent articles that the attack seemed "well planned" and "organized" and the attackers were "heavily armed".

I don't believe these are the guys the NYT should be citing as eyewitnesses to the attack.

There's also this from well over a year ago:

quote:

To those on the ground, the circumstances of the attack are hardly a mystery. Most of the attackers made no effort to hide their faces or identities, and during the assault some acknowledged to a Libyan journalist working for The New York Times that they belonged to the group. And their attack drew a crowd, some of whom cheered them on, some of whom just gawked, and some of whom later looted the compound.

The fighters said at the time that they were moved to act because of the video, which had first gained attention across the region after a protest in Egypt that day. The assailants approvingly recalled a 2006 assault by local Islamists that had destroyed an Italian diplomatic mission in Benghazi over a perceived insult to the prophet. In June the group staged a similar attack against the Tunisian Consulate over a different film, according to the Congressional testimony of the American security chief at the time, Eric A. Nordstrom.

At a news conference the day after the ambassador and three other Americans were killed, a spokesman for Ansar al-Shariah praised the attack as the proper response to such an insult to Islam. “We are saluting our people for this zeal in protecting their religion, to grant victory to the prophet,” the spokesman said. “The response has to be firm.” Other Benghazi militia leaders who know the group say its leaders and ideology are all homegrown. Those leaders, including Ahmed Abu Khattala and Mohammed Ali Zahawi, fought alongside other commanders against Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi. Their group provides social services and guards a hospital. And they openly proselytize for their brand of puritanical Islam and political vision.

I've quoted and linked to this maybe a dozen times over the last year. No one seems to listen.

Damn, they don't even let you get a day off for New Years? That's harsh, I always thought government jobs were pretty cushy.

They pulled this claim out of thin air after too many spoke up loud and clear about their bogus Benghazi report.

Yup....

The "reporters" were actually in Cairo, nowhere near Benghazi!

Why did they wait so long to make the grand announcement to the world? The BS is deep with everything they publish to rid Billary of the tarnish from it, especially that of the testimony before Congress last January.
