Post Millennial
When people said that Andrew Cuomo being kicked out of the governorship would be replaced with someone worse, I found that hard to believe, but y’all were right.
This has to be the most blatantly unconstitutional thing I’ve ever seen. Like even Sotomayor and Brown are going to have to throw this shite out, right? I don’t see how you can possibly read the constitution and Bill of Rights and think this is remotely legal.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul once again signed sweeping gun legislation into law on Friday that created several severe new restrictions on obtaining a gun in the state, including drastically increasing concealed carry regulations and requiring applicants to turn over social media history.
According to the the legislation, part of Hochul's new criteria to obtain a concealed carry permit will be an applicant giving the government a list containing three years of history of their current and inactive social media accounts. Applicants must also have 16 hours of firearm training, provide four character references, and list the contact information for any domestic partners or adults of any kind they live with.
Potential applicants will also be required to show "good moral character," meaning "the essential character, temperament and judgment necessary to be entrusted with a weapon and to use it only in a manner that does not endanger oneself and others."
At a press conference regarding the new legislation, Hochul said "we are creating a definitive list of sensitive locations where individuals will not be able to carry firearms."
This list includes "schools, summer camps, libraries, daycares, parks and playgrounds, places children gather, theaters, museums, entertainment venues, places of worship for religious observation, polling places, educational institutions, and health medical facilities. Federal State Local government buildings, homeless and domestic violence shelters, places where alcohol is consumed, restaurants, bars, public transportation, subway buses, airports and at public demonstrations and rallies, and in Times Square."
Another new rule is a "Default of No Concealed Carry on Private Property and Businesses Unless Deemed Permissible by Property Owners." Hochul said of this law, "We are making 'no open carry' the default position for private businesses. That means that any business, grocery store, retail, private home, place that wants to allow guns on their premises will have to demonstrate that and establish that they put a sign out there that says concealed carry guns are welcome here."

It doesn't matter. Won't stand up in court.

Will be rejected in court like an Owlfan thread.

Should get struck down 9-0. Whole point of voiding may-issue was that it was subjective.
This is even worse because it allows people to be penalized for speech.
If they want to go after people like the Parkland shooter, prosecute them for terroristic threats and make that a disqualifying crime.

Even a NY based federal judge will slap this down

So now they want to violate your first amendment and second amendment rights at the same time?
WTF leftists?

They don't care. Look at Justice Breyer's dissenting opinion in NYSRPA v. Bruen. The Constitution took a back seat to their politics then. I don't know that this would be any different.

... And what if someone doesn't use "social media"? Denied a firearm because they don't have a Twitter account?

So they send the 3 years of posts to a dept in Albany.
Frank: 'Marge, here's 75 application files for a gun. Ya gotta check each one's 3 years of media posts. Where should I dump them?'
Marge: 'Wow, we ain't got room for that. Wait, just put them in that old clothes closet. It's pretty much empty. I'll get started on them next week. BTW Frank, how's your mom doing?'
Frank: 'Not so good. She's got back troubles. It might be neuralgia.'
Marge: 'Oooh, that can be bad. Let's take a break and get some coffee in the staff lounge. You can tell me all about it.'

What a shitehole
Have to have a clean twitter account that someone else determines just so you can hopefully get approved for it to be able to defend yourself on the subways and streets
So you’ll have creepy basement dwelling kiddie porn hoarding mutants deciding on if you’re of good moral character

When you criminalize a fundamental right, you make outlaws of decent moral people.
Also, the types of people who would shoot up a school or playground will definitely abide by this “law.”

One more step on the ultimate goal. Criminalizing dissenting speech.

May as well post signs out front: We aren’t armed; come commit your crime(s) here

If the left ever gets a social credit system implemented like they want to, then yes. Not having Twitter or Facebook would unquestionably be used against you.

So if I don’t have social media I can’t get a gun?
Does my posting on TDs count as social media?
