At 20 times the speed of sound you don't even need a warhead. The kinetic energy released would be pretty devastating. We have a program I believe is called Rods from God. Purely kinetic ammunition in the form of varrying sized tungsten rods, some the diameter of telephone poles, dropped from satellites in space.

What difference does it make how fast a nuke is?
Once they get launched and the return missiles get launched all that is left to do is to kiss life goodbye.

The issue... Is this technology that the US sat on/ never funded but was "sold" through "hacked" servers for the Russians to develop?

Lol. Hey, the Chinese also have photonic radar that can instantly detect all our stealth aircraft, and yet they can't design their own stealth craft without stealing the knowhow, or even how to build a smart phone.
