It’s unreal how much has changed and changed so fast. Obama may have done irreversible damage to this country. He will go down as the worst half white president in history.

Socialism was actually much more of a movement with broader public support in the 19th and early 20thc than now, especially in rural and farming areas

Eugene debs, William bryan, etc

You shouldn't be surprised. The founding fathers wrote the constitution with this exact scenario in mind.

Wilson and FDR called for socialism. They used those words all the time.

The most disturbing trend now is that Marxism, however repackaged is rapidly becoming the platform of the Democrat Party. Whereas WJC was probably more heavy socialist, still had a corporatist leaning. Ditto for Hillary, although probably even more so. Obama was a Marxist-lite, at least openly. Now, they're throwing away the socialist and "lite" euphemisms and jumping right into the hot water of Marxism.

And we all know how that ends...

It will never happen - and they know it. It's all for show in order to get elected/re-elected. It's free advertising....

Dim Party is the "Slippery Slope Party" and should rebrand and use that name.

Look at other countries, it will never happen till it does happen and when it does the change happens quickly

Especially the free college part. It's crazy to think that the LSU students who post on this board wouldn't have to pay tuition.

How could anyone be so stupid and naive to think anything is free?

Just about any history textbook. Wm Jennings Bryan was more of a "Progressive" at e time but he was very much influential in that he ran for President in 1896 and got a sizeable amount of votes. Guys like Debs were threat to the Industrialists of the late 19h and early 20th century.

I don't think many here realize how powerful the union interest were during that time....and the level of worker exploitation that existed at the time.

I liken the politicians that openly advocate Socialism to be traitors.

Actually we don’t. It has never been attempted in the world’s oldest democracy which fought wars, hot and cold, against it and whose citizens in opposition are armed to the teeth.
