Negative economic threads
There are currently five on this page. It is almost as if a narrative (the Sky is falling and it is all Trump's fault) is being pushed. Yet, the US economy is outperforming the Obama years. It is crazy to think that Bill Maher has the pulse of the Dems, but it seems that they truly want a recession just so they can go after Trump in 2020.

re: Negative economic threads
Do you remember all the stories from the media during the Obama years about the Republicans wanting Obama to fail and how it was all about racism and being un-American?

They are hoping the country fails so they can get back into power just to further erode our future.

I started one of those threads, and I'm very pro-trump.

This is not Trump's fault. This is a global problem.

Our debt, once it comes home to roost, will have Trump, just like Obama, Bush(s), and Clinton, to blame. Along with all the congresses then and now.

re: Negative economic threads
Everyone is freaking out about the inverted yield curve without understanding why it's inverting. Unlike the dotcom bubble, the housing bubble or 9/11, this time there doesn't seem to be any single, massive driver other than fear for fear's sake.

Example: Almost every quarter since Trump won the election we've heard from economists how bad the numbers are going to be but once the numbers come out they've beaten expectations (and usually by a fair amount). To add to that, we've been hearing how the Tariff War with China is going to drive up costs for everything yet inflation has been held steady (and economists continue to be shocked yet still say sharp price increases are coming).

As I said in another thread, some of this is being driven by overseas investors escaping negative interest rates but I believe much of it is being driven by baseless fear. Stout responded with a list of things on how I was wrong. I countered all but one of them, a few were completely untrue (which, to me, proved my point).

I see the threads when the Dow drops a few hundred points but I keep missing the ones when it goes up a few hundred.

You can rest easy knowing that talking points go out via someone in charge.....daily.

F-that. Hourly.

These are From prog filth going out to prog filth about how to talk about Epstein. They try to connect him to trump.

Same thing with Econ, here and many other poli boards.

Connect anything negative to trump.....even during soaring markets.

re: Negative economic threads
It is a natural conversation based on this morning's bond market news. Dems will obviously push the narrative of a 2-10 rate inversion portending recession. Recession may well be their only route to the WH.

As Bill Maher brazenly announced, he and his fellow dems actually hope US households will suffer a second great recession so Trump won't be reelected.

BAMN!

Same with the Russian hoax and white supremecist claims.

If you (the MSM) repeat it enough times, maybe people will believe it

The phenomenon of 'experts' continually being wrong and yet still treated as 'experts' isn't unique to Economics. It's also prevalent in climate science.

I don't recall that about earlier in Trump's term, except overblown fears of Brexit impacts. But U.S. economic surprise indexes have been in negative territory for the past year, and it feels like a pretty big plurality of companies are giving negative outlooks now.

I'm not sure the U.S. hits a recession within the next year or so (the Fed will help), but the industrial economic data is pretty rough. I certainly hope not. McKinley is the only president in U.S. history to win reelection when the economy experiences a recession in the last 2 years of his first term.
