NEW: An amazing stat given to me by Davidson County Elections Administrator Jeff Roberts just now. Election Day vote totals across Nashville's 35 largest precincts have already surpassed the Election Day turnout at those precincts in the 2016 election. That's massive turnout.

That's my first thought. Not sure what the break down is.

As long as the rural areas also are showing increased turnout it's fine.

Nashville and Davidson County are one municipality - so that could be and probably is mixed

Probably a Dem lean, but not as bad as you might think

does not matter if turnout is the same statewide though

It’s obviously likely to be heavy D leaning. But it’s irrelevant unless it’s not happening in counties with different demographics, and if Davidson doesn’t have some unique local issue on the ballot that would drastically increase turnout.

again, not as heavy as you might think

the suburbs like Green Hills and West Meade are all in the city, so it is not likely that big of a dem lean

TN across the board is voting in massive numbers, it was a +900% increase or something like that in early voting for a midterm.

Will be crazy to see the results here.

Hillary won Davidson by 26% but Trump won Tennessee (including Davidson) by 26%.

Davidson is fundamentally different than the state as a whole. Now there is not enough information to determine whether this means anything though, if it’s accurate.

Dude that is Nashville and if it is inside the city core, this is to be expected.....Bredesen machine at work there. Hopefully the turnout in Franklin, Brentwood and Hendersonville is just as agitated

Just chill

I know. I lived in Nashville. It’s a D stronghold, as expected though, just like the counties of most major cities that also have suburbs with R leaners that are still a minority overall.

For whatever reason Tennessee has been near the bottom in voter turnout the last few election cycles, one of the worst states in the country in terms of % participation.

With them having high profile races, it makes sense that their turnout is way up.

I noticed a lot of the Mapcos didn't have the usual landscaper/construction crews hanging out.

I think most people here feel like it doesn't really matter if they vote or not in most elections because of how red the state has been the last few times or blue the inner cities have been. The media throwing us into a battle state has made everyone come out of the woodwork and vote. I am really interested to see the results.
