if Mississippi doesn't change its flag.

The 2001 NCAA rule says that no postseason events can be held in the state except for those earned by a team (baseball regionals and super regionals, women's basketball, tennis first and second rounds, etc.).

The NCAA is meeting today and all indications are that they will change the language of that rule to include all postseason events.

I am for the flag change, but I am against an organization meant to oversee sports getting involved in it. There was some momentum last week but it died down after a poll showed that most of the state still didn't want the change and the measure to change the flag basically died this week.

We host regionals and super regionals pretty regularly.

The State can go after them for anti-trust violations, corruption, etc.

LMFAO, what the hell does the NCAA do that's actually "merit-based"?

State, Ole Miss and/or USM have hosted baseball postseason for 5 straight years and 16 of the last 20. State's women's basketball has hosted for 5 straight years. State and Ole Miss tennis regularly host.

Its not the Final Four or the National Championship, but its postseason competition that is about to be taken away.

My point is this: there was a vote taken 20 years ago. We will call that the “will of the people”. Now, outside forces are going around the will of the people to get the change they desire. I think that’s wrong.

I hear from both sides of the political spectrum that we should put it to a vote; however, we’ve already had a vote. So are we supposed to vote on this issue until the outcome they want is achieved?

It’s convenient how every single issue “is not the hill to die on”

I'm with you.

The NCAA doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to situations like this. They've enriched themselves off the backs of student athletes for years. Screw them.

We both did last season, and we could have had our best team ever, but Covid decided to step in and provide another classic WAOM moment.

Mississippi needs to tell the ncaa and stankey to go frick themselves.

Them demanding that you change your flag is not their decision. That decision belongs to the people of Mississippi and without being threatened and bullied.

I wasn’t old enough to vote at that time, dude. In the very least I think it should be put back up for vote.
