NBA (Silver) & Disney/ABC/ESPN Still.Acting Like Rockets GM Was Wrong to Support Hong Kong

Wow. Not once in this entire article on ESPN's website did they even hint that what courageous Houston Rocket's GM Daryl Morey said about supporting Hong Kong had anything to do with supporting freedom and democracy against oppression from a bunch of Communist thugs. They actually made it sound like Morey is the villain here, and that he was virtually in hiding on Houston's trip to Japan.
Disney/ABC/ESPN & the NBA are like 2 snakes in the grass. There's also a short video interview of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver inside the link. What a total weasel he is. Dude practically kisses Lebron "the retard" James's arse the whole time.

But all of that engendered little sympathy for Morey around the league, even as voices from across the American political spectrum rallied behind him. The crisis raged not only in Asia, where players, Silver and the Rockets contended with its immediate effects, but also throughout the NBA, which braced for the aftermath. Conversations with top business and basketball operations executives during the days that followed the initial events revealed a league beset by frustration.
Panic infected some front offices, which worried about a sizable reduction in salary-cap projections due to lost revenue from China. Teams that have spent years instructing players on the hazards of impulsive social media use were irritated to see an executive wreak havoc with a tweet. A few execs who respected Morey's stance over events in Hong Kong expressed bemusement that he took the tweet down. To them, his decision to do so signaled a lack of conviction: If he felt his political expression warranted the fallout, then at least stand by it.
China's state-run network CCTV, one of the largest international broadcasters in the world, has not aired an NBA game through the season's first three weeks. Games have returned to Tencent, an ESPN partner that streams the NBA in China, but viewers can't watch the Rockets. Asked when they expected the impasse to be resolved, nobody around the league could offer an approximate timetable, even as the NBA and CCTV officials maintain communication about the future of broadcasts in China.

Asinine that Morey's made out to be the rube in all of this.
ETA: And as a Spurs fan, I'm not a fan of Morey at all

It is. I get that they're trying to "protect the money," but virtually ostracizing Morey for essentially standing up for freedom and democracy over Communist tyranny is a bad look. A very bad look.
I don't follow the NBA, but because of this incident I have come to understand that Morey, seemingly, is not just another NBA General Manager. He appears to have been a very high-profile person in the league. Add to that the fact that Houston seems to be "China's team" because Yao Ming played there, and I guess I understand why the NBA is still trying to do damage control.
If I were advising the NBA, I would tell them to shut up about it publicly. They would be better served trying to soothe the Chi-Coms hurt feelings in private.

Yup. Morey put them in a bad spot, business-wise. But he did so in following behavior the league had explicitly encouraged (RE: speaking out on social issues). The NBA created this monster, and even though they'll be fine business-wise in the long run, their social credibility as a league has taken a massive hit, and not just from right-wing fans.

I'm (obviously) a huge fan, at least of my own NBA team (hell, I was just at a game last night where they retired Tony Parker's jersey, and it got me emotional as hell). Morey, it pains me to admit, since his franchise is a huge rival of San Antonio's, put together the team best suited to challenge Golden State Warriors' ridiculous talent. Came within single digit points in multiple years of knocking them off and winning a title. That relevance on top of the enduring Chinese connection makes anything the Rockets do globally significant. The fact that Morey was willing to say what he did speaks volumes, and it's really annoying to see the NBA lack spine in this saga. They've tried to have their cake and eat it to by not firing Morey and saying he has freedom of speech, but at the same time refusing to call China out on any human rights abuses.
It'll save their enterprise, but not their credibility.

China still hasn’t let this go and won’t let any NBA game be shown? That tells you all you need to know about them and how little they care about the people. Everyone in the league that doesn’t stand with Hong Kong doesn’t realize how much it would suck to live in China and how great they have it living in America.

Who owns the media?
What people group has historically been extremely involved in Communism?

His tweet was very courageous, huh? Right up there with the PT favorite " Bring our Girls Back" tweets that were mocked by Conservatives. If Morey were courageous he would get from beneath his fricking desk & elaborate on his Hong Kong position.
Colin Kaepernick explained his socks with cops depicted as pigs. Kaepernick didn't hide ,but stood up & explained his Fidel Castro Tee shirt. Kaepernick stood up & explained why he kneeled for the anthem.
Morey " bravely" tweeted a " Free Hong Kong" internet meme & is now in witness protection.

Kaepernick stood in front of the press & explained himself- Google. Morey is hiding beneath his desk after tweeting a lame & unoriginal "Free Hong Kong " meme.
You should encourage the brave Morey to come forward & stop hiding.
" Bring our Girls Back" . " Stand with Hong Kong". So brave.

Here's hoping. Much as I enjoy talking politics, I enjoy sports even more, and despise when the former pollutes the latter. Politics is inherently divisive, while sports has power to reach across a plethora of otherwise unassailable sociopolitical lines.

Because he’s been given a gag order by the NBA in order to protect business. At least the not so woke NFL didn’t infringe on cop hater/terrorist lover Kap’s right to free speech

1) Kaepernick initially said that he began his protest because of the "Hands up, don't shoot!" scenario in Ferguson.
2) At the Grand Jury hearing, black eyewitnesses corroborated the police officer's story and debunked the lies of the protesters.
3) Kaepernick, lacking the moral character to admit that he was wrong, changed his story.
4) frick Kaepernick

" Palin not impressed with Nigerian created hastag Bringourgirlsback"
" Junior High like tweets ....I kinda- sorta doubt a tweet will intimidate the (Nigerian) kidnappers much"- Palin .
Ann Coulter mocked the hashtag with a a sign reading #BringBackourCountry
Limbaugh mocked the " powerless" tweets as well.
Tweets have become brave & powerful symbols now & shall save Hong Kong ,am I right? Morey should come out of hiding & finish his powerful movement for freedom . Kaepernick didn't hide.
