Why the hell would we need their help in the N Atlantic?

Because there are 8 other NATO countries with North Atlantic/Arctic coastlines and territorial waters. Coordinating with them is far more effective and efficient than doing everything on our own.

It is not a new concept, and there’s nothing out of the ordinary about it.

This is a mechanism to funnel funding to NATO... I said it above... We foot the bill for a new HQ, man it, staff it, basically pay the vast majority of the bills so NATO does not have to continue to pay its part...

I don't really understand the mechanisms and the reason for the need for this. Is this a creeping situation where we have more and more foreign influence and military on our soil so that when the blue hats show up it is not so alarming?
This stuff doesn't happen overnight. This would've been in the works under Trump. I'm not crazy about this until I know more details.

I never said a word about a NATO invasion... However, yes, the funding is the reason this HQ will sit in the U.S. and it is a mechanism that makes it easier for NATO to not pay for it and many other things...
