That's why we elected a "successfull" business man
who said this would not be a problem. Yeah he got his Yacht Repo'd but he's successfull

Last time we didn't have a two term President it was because he said, "no new taxes" but actually raised taxes to be responsible about the debt. It's not politically tenable to be responsible, so no one will be.

It took the country 230+ years to get to the first almost 10 trillion of debt. Obama doubled it in 8.
If we can blame Obama for that, then surely we can blame Reagan for MORE THAN DOUBLING the debt from $900B to $2.6T in 8 years, right? And we can blame Bush I for adding 50% from $2.6T to $4T in only 4 years, right? And then we can blame Bush II for doubling it in his 8 years from $5.6T to $10T, right?
Or does this only work when bashing Democrats?

Wait, I was told by many members of this board that Trump isn't responsible for the current budget. Congress is. Now Obama is responsible? Which way is it? It keeps changing.
It's really simple. If a Democrat is President, the deficit is his fault. If a Republican is President, the deficit is Congress' fault. If Congress is Republican-controlled AND the President is Republican, then trust them they are doing everything they can to clean up the mess left by the last Democrats in charge.

Also Remember W saddled us with No Child Left Behind and Medicare Part D which were the primary drivers of the debt during Obama's presidency.

How should Americans view this relative to the budget passed last Dec?

That’s wasn’t my assertion, genius. I’m interested in understanding what impact the budget is expected to have on our national debt over time

National debt is $21.8T (107% of GPD) and climbing
Will exceed $25T by 2019.
" Ronald Reagan proved that deficits don't matter "- Cheney
Barak Obama discussed the deficit more than this Administration. Republicans just ignore / dismiss it when they are power.

Liberals didn't care about the debt for 8 years, and conservatives won't care about it for at least 4.
Obama discussed the debt more than Medina Don has. Not shocking since Republicans constantly whined about it during his administration.
Leaving our kids and grandkids with enormous debt
GOP suddenly don't seem to care about the debt being "kicked down the road" to their grandkids.

Who are we actually in debt to? Space aliens? Id love to see a breakdown of who we actually owe this $ to. And what are they gonna do if we tell em to frick off?

The primary drivers are debt interest and SS/MEDI. The (in perpetuity) debt increases were fully predicted as early as 2010. Neither are part of the discretionary "budget".
Until there's a political appetite for cutting SS/MEDI payouts (and keeping the collected taxes) we will never seen the national debt fall in any meaningful amount.
There is ZERO political will for that. And I don't expect it to form before a default or currency crisis of some sort happens. We're screwed. And December's budget has nothing to do with it.

Tarzana, showing your ignorance again man?
We have more tax revenue than ever before, so to your point, you’re dead wrong.
Lock in the spending budget for 6 to 7 years, the increased budget in that time period would take care of a huge chunk out of the national debt.
It’s not revenue, it’s spending. But most people who hardly get economics understand this.

dude if we did that at this point it might not even cover the deficit for a single year
