Heat and drought. It kills vegetation and therefore lowers natural CO2 consumption (or conversion to oxygen) by those vast areas. Therefore, CO2 appears to be rising. Obviously, I'm no scientist
I assume that duing La Nina the opposite happens compensating for the increase during El Nino. I doubt this observed phenomenon has an effect on the net trend.

What exactly are you trying to argue?
Are you saying that deciduous trees in the Northern Hemisphere do not affect atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations during a year?
There are various sinks for CO2 in the carbons cycle. We only pay attention to the atmosphere. I would like to account for all of them. I'm starting with the oceans b/c I hypothesize it's the largest.
Only tracking and following the atmosphere is an incomplete picture of the mass balance equation.

Ah...well, research also indicates that oceanic carbon is increasing. It is suspected to contribute to die off of coral by decreasing pH of the ocean (acidification).
Still not sure why you began to ponder this after reading that there are seasonal differences in atmospheric carbon dioxide.
