Recent CO2 level increases due to non-human reasons

quote:

A new NASA study provides space-based evidence that Earth’s tropical regions were the cause of the largest annual increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration seen in at least 2,000 years.

Scientists suspected the 2015-16 El Nino -- one of the largest on record -- was responsible, but exactly how has been a subject of ongoing research. Analyzing the first 28 months of data from NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) satellite, researchers conclude impacts of El Nino-related heat and drought occurring in tropical regions of South America, Africa and Indonesia were responsible for the record spike in global carbon dioxide. The findings are published in the journal Science Friday as part of a collection of five research papers based on OCO-2 data.

Maybe if we just start claiming Mother Nature drives a Hummer...?

Wait....what? You mean neither I nor the U.S. is the main culprit? That is not what I've reading.

In other news: We believe NASA when they report science we agree with. Otherwise, not so much.

Tropical forests are increasing CO2, how?

just curious, but did any studies state that is was caused by man?

Play golf with a NASA weather scientist and he has been telling me this for over 5 years... it's political science we are being fed

Heat and drought. It kills vegetation and therefore lowers natural CO2 consumption (or conversion to oxygen) by those vast areas. Therefore, CO2 appears to be rising.

Obviously, I'm no scientist

Just wait a minute right there! The science is settled already! At least that is what John Kerry, head of the Sierra Club and the rest of the democratic party have been vomiting for years

Did El Niño attend Paris?

Like a good scientist should I'm skeptical of all data until it's repeated many times over by independent researchers.

Like a good scientist I never fully embrace theories that seek to reach a reasonable explanation of observations. Not even my own.

Consensus is the antithesis of GOOD science. But it works well in religion where it's called faith.

And any intelligent human being should be highly skeptical of computer models making predictions based on assumptions.

Did you read the article? It's only referring to 1/3 of the excess over 2015 and 2016.

quote:

In 2015 and 2016, OCO-2 recorded atmospheric carbon dioxide increases that were 50 percent larger than the average increase seen in recent years preceding these observations.

What you mean that American production factories and plants are not the problem and the Democratic solution of sending this production overseas where there is not proper environmental watch and employee safety standards is not the solution even though the power brokers have billions of dollars to gain from such a move?

This is my shocked face...
