My wife of 45 years just blew my mind tonight....

...first of all You do not want picsso don't ask.
Let me preface this by saying she's married to a former Marine. I don't really give a f##k about about sob stories from people who have made poor decisions in their life and can't accept the concept of personal responsibility. That being said...my bride is usually of same thought...until tonight.
She informed me that if she found herself infected by Covid-19, and she had to be put on a ventilater, she would refuse. Why this? She said she was 68 with COPD,and she would feel guilty if she were on ventilation when someone much younger needed it to save their life went without, she would feel guilt the rest of her life. She said she had lived a great life with a great guy and that she could never envision a life of without me! Basically she said she would want to die first rather than be left alone if I were to pass first.
This is the strongest statement of love to me, and others I have ever heard pass from this woman's lips since I had the fortune to marry this great lady! She is willing, like myself, to make the "ultimate sacrifice" . I never thought I could love her more!

You sure that’s what she said? Seems like she only said no vent cause she wanted a younger person to have it.

That's honestly pretty awesome.
My wife asks about my life insurance policy monthly.

Vents are not the answer. This is a gross mismanagement. I work in healthcare I wouldn’t want a vent either. This isn’t a respiratory virus like It’s being touted. It’s more like a blood disorder. Intubation/vents are killing more people than they are helping.
Vents are last ditch effort 90% never recover.

Assure her that putting someone on a vent with COVID isn't going to save their lives. Shes right about not wanting one, but not in order to keep someone else alive. 90% of the time, they die anyway. And if they miraculously survive on a vent, the vent could significantly damage their lungs.
quote:
A paper from China involved Covid-19 patients who were admitted to an ICU. Of the those who eventually required mechanical ventilation, 86% died. Another early study reported 97% mechanically ventilated patients died.
Intensive Care National Audit and Research Center (ICNARC) in the UK, of patients admitted to ICUs and received advanced respiratory support—defined as invasive ventilation, BPAP or CPAP via endotracheal tube, or tracheostomy, or extracorporeal respiratory support — 66% died.

If the force or amount of air is too much, or if your lungs are too weak, it can damage your lung tissue. Your doctor calls this ventilator-associated lung injury (VALI).

My wife knows all of them for me. I should get her info just to be sure.

A blown mind is a happy mind.

correction: there is no such thing as a “former” Marine...

How would she know this happened? I don't think she would

No. She's married to a Marine, in a different phase of his life. Commandant Amos set that policy in 2011.
You have a great wife.

I don’t even know your wife, but I love her too.
She can definitely hang out in the she shed.
That’s the holy grail of marriage right there. Y’all are both lucky, and justifiably proud of building a great life together.

God bless your 45 year marriage but I’d take Hydroxychloroquine over ventilator as I’m hearing ventilator is last step before death
Give me Hydroxychloroquine
Give me Hydroxychloroquine
