My solution to all these feel good month long celebrations

Group them all together in the months of May-June.

Currently the month of February is Black History month, which is somewhat confusing because many black Americans prefer African American over black American. I’m still assuming some black Americans prefer to be referred to as “colored people” because that term is still in use today. NAACP anyone? The bottom line, we need a consensus from black Americans. What is the preferred description/term/name when addressing black Americans?

Once that is settled my proposition is to ditch February as Black History month, it’s only 28 days (excluding Leap Year) and instead make the month of celebration June. This makes sense because it appears Juneteenth will be recognized as a National holiday and what better month to celebrate black history than the month of the Emancipation Proclamation. The bonus is we can give February back to the white oppressors (Presidents)…


I know, you’re already saying the LGBTQ…..XYZ folks have June for Pride Month but wait, this works perfectly with Black History month because the LGBTQ….XYZ folks frequently consider themselves as oppressed and mistreated as black Americans….I believe this month long celebration/observance in June for both black Americans and LGBTQ…XYZ folks makes great sense.

Let’s not forget the month of May, we’ll set that month aside for the Hispanics/Latinos. Cinco De Mayo is May 5th….Isn’t that a Mexican celebration/observance of some Mexican military victory over the Frenchies? I don’t know why we’re celebrating Mexican military victories in America, I’m not sure why the Mexicans are celebrating a military victory over the Frenchies but whatever. We’ll keep May open for any other ethnic groups who feel they need recognition or the need to celebrate….the Hispanics/Latinos will need to be tolerant and share the month of May with other ethnicities if the need arises.
