President Trump hasn't given up on his plan to end birthright citizenship. Trump said in an interview last October that he planned to sign an executive order ending the right of citizenship to every child born in the United States, and although he never ended up doing so, 10 months later, he once again said he's considering it.
"We're looking at that very seriously," Trump said Wednesday in response to a question about ending birthright citizenship with an executive order, reports Vox's Aaron Rupar. He went on to call the concept "frankly ridiculous" and described it as, "you walk over the border, have a baby, congratulations, the baby is now a U.S. citizen."
When Trump raised the idea of ending birthright citizenship by way of an executive order last year, he drew plenty of criticism from his fellow Republicans, including then-House Speaker Paul Ryan, who said the president "obviously" can't do that, considering it's a right guaranteed by the 14th Amendment and the "14th Amendment is pretty clear."
Trump quickly shot back at Ryan, claiming the speaker was commenting on an issue he "knows nothing about." Trump also insisted that the 14th Amendment doesn't actually cover birthright citizenship and that it "will be ended one way or the other." Brend

So Constitutional infringement is ok when it is beneficial I guess.

Nations that have repealed birthright citizenship since 1980:
Australia—2007
New Zealand—2005
Ireland—2005
France—1993
India—1987
UK—1983
Portugal—1981
I'm assuming they weren't called racists for doing it
So why is Trump being attacked as one for considering it?

Not really. No other country does what the U.S. does in terms of immigration.

Read the text and history of the amendment.
You need to educate yourself.
But here is a nice synopsis of the argument of how the amendment is being bastardized.

What does this have to do with the 14th amendment?

Even if Trump signs an EO to mandate this a liberal federal court will hold up a ruling on this until Trump is out of office.

No other country has the weak immigration laws like the U.S. has.

We are not living in the 1800s any more. The game changed when we started throwing so much money at these immigrants (and their families). There are way too many of these folks that are looking to be leeches.
The issue should be addressed. Trump should be lauded for sparking the debate.

you could use the same justification for the 2nd amendment.

As the "law" is practiced now birthright citizenship can be changed by the executive branch. The State Department under previous presidents came up with the current rule (I believe under Nixon) and it hasn't been changed since.
Trump should change it to only pertaining to the parents of U.S. citizens or LEGAL U.S. residents less diplomats not non-citizens or ILLEGALS and then let the left challenge it in court. I don't believe it has ever been challenged.

Birthright citizenship is fine if it is for a child born here to parents that are here legally and not on a visit or business (B1/2) visas.
When it is allowed for people who enter illegally or come here simply to have a child to gain citizenship, it is contrary to the spirit of the right.
