My ESPN/Disney conspiracy theory...

this is solely my theory and I have zero data to back it up but I think someone over on the Disney side of the Walt Disney Co. is intentionally sabotaging ESPN so that their value will be less when all the new subscribers sign on for the streaming service thus guaranteeing a larger portion per subscriber to Disney instead of towards ESPN. Walt Disney Co. owns Disney/StarWars/ABC/ESPN. When a new subscriber signs on for the streaming the portions/money for each monthly subscriber is going to get distributed amongst the channels. The big channels will get a bigger portion. If Disney can sabotage ESPN and make their value less then Disney will get a higher portion per subscriber than it would if ESPN was kicking arse. Just my conspiracy theory, feel free to shoot it down or add to it.

If that were the case then why not just sabotage all their properties?

Walt Disney Co. isn't the one sabotaging ESPN, it's Disney Co. that is. It's confusing because of the word Disney but think about it like this. Walt Disney Co. is the king and he has a bunch of princes named Disney, ESPN, ABC and Walt Disney Studios (owns Lucas Films). These princes are fighting for mostly allowance percentages and Prince Disney believes he deserves a larger share than Prince ESPN so he is sabotaging ESPN's value to the King so that he will get less money than Prince Disney. Evil Princes are being evil.

I was an early investor in Netflix but I wouldn’t do it now.
I see the plan for major content producers emerging to deal with cord cutting.
They are going to pull their archival content from places like Netflix and Hulu and put it behind a $10/month paywall.
That is their plan.
They are about to try and recreate the cable model where at the end of the day, you still spend $150 a month.
Grouping Disney properties like ABC, ESPN and Star Wars is a great example of how it is going to be the same shite all over again. It is fake carte blanche. You still won’t be able to pay for what you want without paying for what you don’t want.
These dinosaurs won’t go down without a fight.
Innovators like Netflix will lose all of their archival content and be down to what they make which will make them no different than HBO.
