More than half the population is either on welfare or up to their eyeballs in debt living paycheck to paycheck.
What the frick do they care about what’s happening with the banks or interest rates? They have credit cards and food stamps
There’s a reason that the school system teaches young people about gays and critical race theory instead of finance. The goal is for everyone to be broke or living off the government tit

That reminds me of the South Park episode "Margaritaville". A true classic.

Democrats love welfare programs for this very reason. Social policies and economic policies are two big categories of things voters have traditionally cared about the most. When you create a welfare state where economic performance isn't as critical, then you create a safety net for yourself politically so that a poor economy doesn't impact your re-election chances as much, having everything rest on social policy, which is influenced by propaganda via media, big tech, and public schools, among others.
So yeah, I'd imagine fewer Americans care about the economy now than in any other time in our country, and the Dems won't suffer as much politically because of it.

Most Americans have no idea what they pay in state and federal income taxes.
Q. What percentage of your income did you pay directly to income taxes last year?
A. I got back $400!!!!

Do any of the people they shitcanned at Amazon or Meta care? Do they feel betrayed? Do they understand how the president keeps saying the economy is rock solid while they're filing for unemployment?

Sadly if not tragically, you are correct sir......and this ^^^ is how great nations decline into bedlam, chaos and poverty.

Hail, half of our population can't read a tape measure or tell you what is 48% of $100 is.

This is exactly right.
What many here hate, half the country loves. I mean loves!
And the half that loves daddy government is growing.
Time is not on our side.
We talk about trying to squeeze one more presidential election for the good guys but that's about as good as it may get.
Just look at the popular vote history.
We are fricked.

If kids were well grounded in the basic tenets of finance it'd be damned difficult to get them to work for anyone and even harder for them to support capitalism as practiced in the United States....best leave well enough alone for those of us who have made it.

This is spot on. About the same % of people claim that most Americans pay no taxes of any kind, pay no federal tax of anykind and that corporations do indeed pay taxes. They are, of course, wrong on all counts (every product and service sold in the US has an inherent tax component in its pricing and all of those taxes are paid by consumers including 100% of "corporate taxes.) Lots of people are financially ignorant in this nation...its one of the ways you can get them to buy $80K pickup trucks and half a million dollar homes.

I find it funny that most Americans don’t realize that if they gross $50k and take home $40k it often costs the employer $70k or more to employ that person. Matching taxes, workers comp ins, healthcare, retirement, sick time, vacation time. In some cases a fully wrapped position costs more than half of a salary meaning a $50k employee costs the employer $75k.
