All Morgan Stanley Sophomore Summer Programs are an integral part of our diversity recruiting efforts to attract Black, Hispanic, Native American, Female and/or LGBTQ+ college sophomores. For that reason, all applicants that do not identify under the criteria listed above are unfortunately ineligible for the program. Please let me know of any questions! Thanks, Olivia.” Morgan Stanley’s campus recruiter is named Olivia Schember.

Probably fake news, but I think everyone should put Latino and/or Black on every application. Make the question meaningless.

Hard to disprove a negative, brah. And the “article” you linked is completely unsourced. And as far as investment banks go, Morgan Stanley is the most conservative culturally. Historically maintained an image as the WASP i-bank; did not hire Jews, etc.

It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility in this climate

And there is an Olivia Schember who works as a Campus Recruiter at Morgan Stanley

Owens corning recruiting for their summer intern and LP programs does a similar thing, and has for at least 3 years. They openly train their recruiters to not give applications to white males. They don't tell the recruiters to ask, but if they look white, they get bypassed.

You're citing practices from at least 50 years ago as a reason why MS wouldn't discriminate on the basis on race today?

It's not fake. All of their sophomore summer programs are intended for those specific demographics. They call it Early Insights. They have a related program targeting women as well.

It's on their talent acquisition page and shows up on several MS application portals of major universities.

I always put native American on my stuff (not a complete lie). Companies don't give a shite so long as they can report diversity hires.

it’s fake or at least twisted and not all the story. They have a statement about diversity and maybe extra efforts to recruit diversity, like many other companies which gives the outrage story an aura of legitimacy.

This board just trolls itself most of the time. If MS really had this policy in general on interns and was acting on it they’d be sued liked crazy as you mention.

And it’s really not a very smart policy as far as talent acquisition, and keeping your stockholders happy… to “bar interns who are straight white males.” By a company heavily run by said demographic.
