Maintenance Group commander and squadron commanders are feeling a little heat, it's really dependent on trended MC rates from the fleet AF wide to begin with, if the daily rates are shite these guys did the best they could.

Holy shite there are some fricking retards posting in this thread.

Bitching "why didn't they just fly them out?" when it's been made fricking clear that they flew every single one that was capable of getting in the air out before the storm hit.

Bitching "why didn't they invent a hanger that can withstand a hurricane" when the article clearly says "they were all moved to the most weather resistant hanger on the base"

Etc etc

Dumb sonofabitches

Maybe. Can we count the shells displayed as monuments, too?

No, static displays is what they are called.

Something tells me those planes wouldn't be able to fly if a hurricane didn't come through there. Those things have been disasters

Sure you are not...

You are not too big on command responsibility, apparently...

It was a lighthearted joke. I think we understand each other here.

One of my favorite things about going to Mexico Beach is watching the F-22s fly in and out of Tyndall. The other is fishing.

I get it, just seems like there was enough time to do something. I'm joining the Space Force.

Are you seriously going to stick to claiming I'm the commander of the base? Seriously?

I don't think you have a clue what disaster prep/recovery is for a major base or control center much less how those plans get enacted.

WGAS how "weather resistant" they were if they couldn' hold up in this hurricane? Obviously not enough.

So you think someone in emergency preparedness anticipates a worst case scenerio like this and just thinks "frick it,we know some of these F-22's will be grounded during a CAT 4 so lets not even think about doing some R&D to find out if hangars can be built to withstand these winds,we'll just let F-22's withstand millions and damage"

Makes sense

Yeah I am guessing they did the best they could, you have to figure there were probably 4 aircraft in Phase maintenance so they would be heavily torn down, they probably Kballed as many parts from them as they could to repair other 22s. The bottom line is assuming 12 is the number that leads me to believe it's a fleet issue versus a leadership issue.

As far as the QF-16s they are one of the lowest priorities for parts and some of the oldest Vipers still flying so I can give a mulligan on those numbers being higher.

Doubtful.

I bet this guy gets sacked. That was just plain irresponsible not to evacuate those aircraft ahead of the storm.

You are right of course, just seems like something that could use more planning going forward.

But we (Army) let 34 tons of ice (contractor price ice) melt during one recovery because we couldnt find it before it melted.

Well, let's just start with a couple facts here.

Fact 1. You have no idea what the specs are for the hangers these 22 were placed in.

Fact 2. You don't even know that millions of dollars in damage was done to the aircraft in question.

You morons are unbelievable "cut the military budget, cut the military budget" "Hey why the frick weren't those planes in an underground lair that was category 5 hurricane proof?" also "shite why is every plane the US military owns always ready to fly?"

idiot
