Yet another example of the death of journalism and the transition to pure editorial content. From ABC:

This is a common tactic used by the media to dispute stories that go against the narrative. They added one extra detail that goes beyond what is being claimed and thus makes the entire claim baseless. In this story, they say that Fauci lied to protect the Chinese government. That singular claim about the motive for lying is baseless, as far as I know, and is just speculation. But if you package that with the entire claim, it makes the whole thing “baseless.”
We know for a fact that Fauci lied. We know for a fact that Fauci misled the American public. But the motive is not known as a fact at this point. Now, other media outlets will refer to ABC as a news source that determined the entire Fauci story is baseless.

It’s the “Republicans pounce” strategy. Rather than discuss the charges, they talk about the Republicans’ response to the charges as a means of steering the narrative.

This is 100% correct. Fauci himself is using this tactic right now when being asked about his emails. He immediately and without provocation goes into the bio weapon angle. So MSM asks about his emails and he responds with “of course China wouldn’t release a bio weapon to kill themselves and others. Haha that’s so dumb Ms. She/Her/Them reporter thing.”
