From the BBC LINK- Labour conference: Starmer ambition to get off fossil fuels by 2030

quote:

Labour has set out plans to make the UK the first major economy in the world to generate all of its electricity without using fossil fuels.

Sir Keir Starmer says achieving zero carbon energy by 2030 will be a key priority if he wins the next election.

quote:

Labour sources said an emergency backup capacity of 0.7% of fossil fuel electricity production would be kept on stand by.

quote:

But the party believes it can win votes by promoting green energy as a way to generate economic growth, in contrast to Tory tax cuts for the well-off.

quote:

"It will also support our drive for higher growth and rising living standards."

Labour says the plan will also "reindustrialise" the UK, by creating more than 200,000 direct jobs and up to 260,000-300,000 indirect jobs.

No further comment. It's time to sit back and laugh at them.

From what I read earlier today, Putin is a great environmentalist and has helped them move this project forward to as early as this winter.

Hmmmm... I remember people back in the 1970s who claimed that placing food under a pyramid structure would prevent it from spoiling and wouldn't require refrigeration. I have a feeling this will turn out about the same way as that did.

I can gain votes by promising free blow jobs but that doesn't mean I can make it happen.

I have come around to the idea that nuclear might be a viable strategy to minimize fossil fuels.

That, though, is still not good enough for these people. They just don't get that wind or solar can never be the base load source.

They're going to kill millions of people while they sit around in their mansions and throw parties with lights blazing in every room.

A lot of this goes back to the 60s when hippies got back into nature with communes (that all failed). They based their opinions on Rousseau.
Short version: Man was meant to live a simple life in tune with nature in the forest. Industrialization ruined all of that. We need to go back.

This is part of the liberal playbook. It is a bold face lie and NEVER, EVER, comes to fruition.

They've put up some big solar installations here in WI and I just chuckle.

7-8 hours of daylight in the winter and very often the skies are overcast. Yeah, that shite's going to replace a 1,000 megawatt coal plant.

Nuclear is the ONLY alternative.

Wind and solar will continue to be a pipe dream for another 50 years.

The fools promoting this will get millions killed...and that is by design.

I remember 'experts' saying we'd have mass starvation from over population and we'd be out of oil by the 1990s in the mid-late 70s...

I have always believed in learning from other peoples mistakes. I say "Damn the Torpedoes and full speed ahead, Mate!" Should be interesting to watch.
Maybe we can send AOC and Rashida Talib over to warm and comfort them...
