So shots every 6 months...
Never going to end. It amazes me that this is basically going to end up like the flu, but we will be told to take shots every 6 months for it.
I would put money on the CDC advisory panel disagreeing with the FDA panel and saying all American's need a booster.

If the first shot of the vaccine created antibodies specific to the S protein for the Alpha variant, and the second shot of the vaccine reinforced that imune response (created MORE and QUICKER RELEASE OF antibodies specific to the S protein for the Alpha variant), then...
is the third shot, raising antibodies specific to the S protein for the Delta variant a 'booster', or is it a new vaccine?
if it's a second vaccine, won't it too require a second shot, like Alpha?
and, will antibodies created following the Alpha shots compete with antibodies created following the Delta shot(s)?

Anyone want to predict when this BS will end? You can mandate that every single person on the planet gets the vaccine and the virus will just mutate and cases will spike again.

For simplicity, the vaccine isn't attacking the spike protein as one point, but at many points on the spike protein (like 50). The variants are only slightly different from each other, hence why a vaccine developed for alpha will already recognize delta. Most people I've read who know coronaviruses well suspect the odds a variant can have a huge immune escape are low as that isn't in their nature and there are only so many possibilities for it to adapt. While you can tailor the vaccine to bind more specifically to delta or other variants, it may not be necessary per above.
