Money saved from Boycotts

Since Gillette has everyone fired up, it got me thinking about the products I have said - frick off to.
Mainly, the movies, Ben and Jerrys, Nike, Netflix, Gillette and football.
Just for some rough calculations, ill break it down to per year savings.
Movies, this use to be my wife and I's favorite thing to do. Any decent movie, and it was dinner and a movie time. For the family of 5, we would bring the kids to basically any kid targeted movie. Ill assume once per month for the wife and I at 40 total after tickets and snacks, and 5 times per year at 75 for the entire family. Conservative annual savings $855
Ben and Jerry's - 2 pints per week for each of us, approximately $20. I don't let the kids eat ice cream so no change there. Annual savings $1040
Nike - The wife and I only buy 1 or 2 pairs of tennis shoes per year, so we will call it 1 pair at $100. The kids, I won't punish the kids, if they want nikes they can have them. The kids typically get a pair of shoes to start school and another pair for christmas. Additionally, they are all very active in sports so we will say at least 3 pair of cleats per year. I told them Nike sucks, so the soccer cleats ended up being addidas , and all other shoes have ended up being non-Nike. I have not said no to a pair of nike's, they simply just have not requested a pair. 3 Cleats at 60 per pair, 6 shoes at 75 a pair average - Approximate savings $100 +$180 + $450 = $730
Netflix - This one is easy , $14 per month. $168 per year.
Gillette - Another easy one, approximately $30 per month - $360 per year.
Annual savings $3153.
When I tell you that not one of these things has been missed in the slightest, well you just have to believe me. And before anyone wants to sit there and break down replacement costs or other bullshite, this is all just a big illustration. Yes, I have eaten ice cream since Ben and Jerry's promoted their "resist" flavor. But it was Prestige chocolate Almond, $4 a gallon versus almost $6 per quart. And frankly, it is just as good if not better. Honestly, its fricking delicious.
Football -- My time is priceless so there is no value. I use to spend 3 hours on a saturday, up to 6 on a sunday, sometimes thursday and sometimes monday watching football. So, possible 10 hours OR MORE a week sitting in front of the boob tube. I now take that time either making more money for the family or spending it with the kids. I tell you, boycotting football has truly been the best blessing of all of this. We watched the second half of the saints game this weekend, and it was just slow and boring. We have gone on fishing trips, played soccer, baseball, shite, literally done something fun every single Sunday for 2 years now. I don't care if they never talk about the National Anthem again. It really opened my eyes just how stupid it is to sit on the couch all weekend long while your life wastes away. Never again!
In summary, every time a company tries to tell me I am a piece of shite because I do not believe the flavor of the month cause they are pushing, I will simply find another product. It is quite easy to do, and every time I seem to find something better anyways.
Now, I just need to find a better , cheaper razor, and they cycle will continue.

You sound like a fun person to be around.

You have no idea the level of discomfort you have to go through to truly boycott something. I bet you're one of those guys that think that if you don't have your television tuned in to a channel you have successfully boycotted a television program.

Why don't you tell him all about his discomfort, Karnac?

Now boycott all left leaning tech companies. Apple, google, Microsoft...let me know when you're ready to make the tough sacrifices.

Now boycott every tech company with views you disagree with.

Do you drive an automobile, do you have internet, do you pay for cable?
Yeah, you haven't even begun to boycott.
Boycotting a simple local business is probably easy enough. But there are some entities that are so far-reaching that to believe that not a single cent that you spend ends up in their hands is ridiculous.
