so, I think the term "betrayal" is garbage, just using the article title from the ultra progressive NY Mag...

my thought is that if the progs are worried; then this is good news

yes; I am disappointed in Mo for his "yea" vote on funds to assist dirty politicians to launder $$ in the Ukraine; but he is still better than the alternative (Mrs Britt) in Alabama

I hope this winds up being prophetic

quote:

There is something mildly tragicomic about Representative Mo Brooks’s campaign to become a U.S. senator from Alabama. His campaign website still shows him at two peak moments of his long career in right-wing extremist politics: (1) speaking at Donald Trump’s January 6 rally just before he went over to the Capitol to lead the charge to decertify Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential win and (2) appearing at an August 2021 Trump rally in Cullman, Alabama, when he was the former president’s endorsed candidate for the seat being vacated by Richard Shelby, the retiring senior senator.

quote:

What makes Brook’s treatment by Trump even more egregious is the former president’s political flirtation with rival and now front-runner Katie Britt, the former Shelby chief of staff, business lobbyist, and Senate Republican Establishment favorite who more or less embodies The Swamp.

I won't lie - it's kind of shocking to see the progs get something correct...

I am really hoping Mo can get into a runoff' I like his chances in that scenario

He's a trash ukraine-firster. Alabama loses no matter which of these jokes gets elected.

What is up with everyone on this board accepting mediocre traitors?

The same situation with Kemp who betrayed us last time yet are going to vote for him? Good grief no wonder why we don’t get anywhere with this line of thinking.

Nah, he's just a representative for a city built on missile money.

Still, if you want a 3/4's solution versus the usual 40/50, Brooks is the best option by far. Durant is a pure snake in the grass and Britt is a chamber printing press slave.

I think the time to hustle and do work for your preferred guy or gal is during the primary process. But after that there’s a pretty substantial question put to folks: only one Republican would prevail and move on to the general. What’s the appropriate course of action at that point, particularly if your guy or gal didn’t make the cut, despite a gallant effort??

In this particular instance, I would not cast a vote in the general election. We need to stop seeing the creatures of entities like the US Chamber of Commerce or globalist activist groups as somehow preferable to their democrat counterparts just because they run as republicans. Mitt Romney is a republican. John McCain was a republican. George W. Bush was a republican. All were as large of disasters in their own way as what we're dealing with now.

I disagree. While I loathe all three of them, none were as large of a disaster as Joe Biden.

O understand, and it’s a simple difference in two types of individuals: “principlists” and realists/pragmatists. Either is a legit way to go. Of course I’m of the pragmatist persuasion and can only think how key it is to snatch that Speaker role from Pelosi or whoever it may be in the future, thus denying them the ability to kick up these January 6th type bullshart committees solely intended to weaponize their political standing. I can stomach a few jerkoffs in the Repub majority to avert the Democrat games.

the only other choice is Shelby's trained Chamber Rat

AL almost always has nothing but garbage choices; but Mitch wants Britt, so there's that...

MO should be easily winning this primary, especially when he had Trump's endorsement. Instead, the guy's pretty much wasted all his opportunities, has let others run his campaign into the ground, and still probably doesn't realize he is most likely going to lose.

He is popular in the north, but most of the state don't like the guy. He comes off poorly in front of audiences and his campaign is just coasting it seems. You don't even see any signs he is running a campaign, at least not in North Alabama. Perhaps he thinks he's going to get the vote here and doesn't want to spend money?

I haven't seen a single Mo Brooks sign anywhere, heard anything on the radio, or seen anything on tv. Instead, I see Katie Britt everywhere. Signs on street corners, in people's yards, on billboards, and on the radio.

Who knows what will happen, but I never imagined Mo doing as poorly as he is right now.

No doubt there's no good choice in this one, but Brooks is the best bad option. Durant is a gun-grabbing MIC goon, and Britt is a young Richard Shelby in a dress.

I think Katie's the best option. She's getting my vote. I don't see Shelby as a RINO. He has done wonderful things for Alabama, and I expect Katie to do the same.

You vote for Britt if you want to.

Just don’t run around on here or anywhere else calling yourself a conservative. You’re not. Which is fine. Just be sure to say so.

he is a total piece of garbage

if you think that feeding like a pig at the trough to bring federal money to AL is "doing something" then that explains a lot about you, because to do so, he had to agree to send more money elsewhere to secure support for his pet projects -- money we had no business spending

he has ALWAYS been a "whichever way the wind in blowing" type of guy, and has done more to enrich himself than anything else; ALWAYS sacrificing what is best for the country to enrich himself and his cronies

and yes, we can absolutely count on Mrs Britt to do the same; fight to enrich herself and others in power at the expense of what the right thing to do is

also; Shelby was instrumental in blocking the types of judges that we really needed before his "change of heart" and conversion from the Democrat Party' Bork being the highest profile - denying Bork a seat on SCOTUS did immeasurable damage to this country

he was a thorn in Reagan's side, and more recently, a thorn in Trump's side

so, when we needed him most to support the 2 best men we have had to grace the White House in my lifetime; we were always able to count on him to screw over America - he was very consistent like that

and again, we can certainly count on his hand picked successor to do the same

Durant committed political suicide by taking the support of the Lincoln Project. Rick Wilson's support killed that run.

Katie Brit is nothing but a swamp rat looking for millions being a Senator. There is not a drop of blood with a Conservative gene in her body.

Hold your nose and vote Mo Brooks. Mo may have turned his back on Trump when Trump first ran. But Brooks has a history of staying on the right side during the process.

Little miss priss may have an in either way. If Brooks wins ....his seat must be filled. Me Maw will have to temporarily fill the seat until there is a special election. I would predict grandma sends Britt as a reward. Exactly where Britt belonged in the first place.

How hard is it for someone decent to run in one of these primaries? JD Vance showed that when a good option is on the table, people will go with it. I think Blake Masters looks like a good one in AZ and he will take it.
