It would appear that a very large number of people do not know the difference between a “child sex offender“ and a “pedophile.“
The former is someone who has actually committed a sexual assault upon a child. The hell with them. Put them under the jail. I think that probably everyone is fine with that concept. The latter, however, includes a large number of individuals who have never committed such an offense, though they are attracted to minor children.
Non-offending pedophiles deserve our sympathy. They did not asked to be what they are, and the vast majority of them came to be that way because they themselves were abused as children. Nonetheless, they know that their attractions are wrong, and they fight against them.
If using a less-derogatory term helps those individuals to continue their fight against their urges and to continue to be “non-offenders,” I don’t see any harm whatsoever in using the term.

Most people discuss the topic, some people would rather discuss the forum members. If I cared to count I suspect the majority of his posts are about the people who have the views he disagrees with, not the views themselves.

I made an entirely substantive post that mentioned no one else on this forum. It simply addressed the topic.
Our little Houstonian responded with an insane proposition (killing non-offenders), and I called it such. He responded by attacking me personally. So you crawled up my arse rather than his.
You will never admit it, but that is how 95% of the threads go. I post something substantive. Someone doesn’t like what I have said, so they attack me personally. Things go downhill.

Many of your opinions are truly dangerous. This one for example is a threat to children everywhere.
It's a huge mistake to normalize pedophilia. Those who are attracted to children shouldn't be given sympathy. They should be ostracized. We need to do what we can to minimize that population.
