oh we have religious scholar here? No, you are not a Christian if you believe Jesus was just the jewish Messiah, and not also the son of god who died for the sins of the world etc etc... There is a lot of wiggle room in between those 2 positions. If this rabbi follows the old testament law there is nothing keeping him from being a Jew instead of a Christian, he just has an unorthodox opinion that Jesus actually was the Messiah.
