Both the Weaver family and Harris brought civil suits against the government over the events of the firefight and siege, the Weavers winning a combined out-of-court settlement in August 1995 for $3.1 million, and Harris being awarded, after persistent appeals, a $380,000 settlement in September 2000.

I met Randy Weaver and his then teenage daughter in 2000. The daughter was standing next to her mother who was holding her baby brother when she was shot through the kitchen door by the FBI sniper.
It was murder alright, murder by the FBI. Not much different than what happened at Waco but on a much smaller scale.
